If that Cavs offer is on the table, it's going to be hard to pass it up. Even if it just nets us a 2nd rounder, that trade exception could net us Josh Smith... or at the very least it will get us closer to a tank job.
My guess is Danny pulls the trigger on the Cavs offer sometime between picks 1-14 unless someone outbids the Cavs.
The reports are that the Cavs want Sergey Karasev and don't think he will be around at #19, so I wouldn't be shocked if the Cavs are working on Pierce and #16 for #19, two seconds, and maybe a 2014 second, contingent upon Karasev still being there at 16. They've also been reported as talking to the Mavs for that purpose, so it probably depends on how the draft is going.
A lot of these draft day negotiations are contingencies, based on who may or may not be available at a certain slot.
Dude u serious? For 3 spots , 2 near 1st and 2014 2st?
It will b 16 for 19 and 33. Thts all
I'm suggesting Pierce for the two seconds and a trade exception, as rumored, and tacking on #16 for #19 and one of the three 2014 second round picks that Cleveland has. You can either see them as separate transactions or one big deal.
That Cleveland is strongly interested suggests they really want a shooter, someone who can catch-and-shoot all over the floor, not necessarily a high-usage volume scorer.
Taking Pierce as a stop-gap while 19-year-old Karasev matures would make some sense to Cleveland.
