If the C's pulled the trigger on the rumored deal of PP to Cle, I wouldn't be surprised if Danny made his picks based on them becoming productive pieces after their rookie year -- using their rookie season to get into the lottery while learning to play and saving that anticipated TPE for a FA the next year when we hopefully have a good pick in play.

If we get 31 and 33 from Cle while keeping 16, I could see Danny taking Schroeder, Withey and Rice with those picks assuming the board plays out as Ford suggests.  (I think Ledo is still on the board in the 2nd round though so I could see him picked instead of Rice).
Don't agree with Schroeder staying overseas a year but if he does, it's a better lottery position for us most likely.

Future starts lining up as this in a couple of years
PG: Rondo, Schroeder
SG: AB/Lee (maybe Ledo if available)/Crawford (although I see him going if he doesn't improve where he passes either AB or Lee on the depth chart)
SF: Green/Rice (if no Ledo)
PF: Sully/Bass
C: Withey/Melo
throw in next year's lottery pick and the 2 #1's in the 2015 draft and I think we're rolling towards a good, young team.

I want Giannis!

The entire situation reminds me of Sullinger last year.  If Shabazz slides I'm more then fine taking him...this team is going to have a hard time scoring with out KG and Paul.

For this type of draft depth this year, a draft that included Schroeder, Withey, & Ledo would be a great haul.

All three could easily be Ainge type players.  I'd also include Tony Mitchell & Sergey Karasev to the list.

there's going to be some seemingly amazing player who slides to impossible depths, and then we pass and he keeps on sliding and we all end up posting irate messages about it... like Arnett Moultrie or Perry Jones last year.

I wonder who it will be this year... Shabazz does seem like the leading candidate. I've got a weird feeling, though, that more than one of the point guards are going to slide and keep sliding. Maybe Burke and Larkin both tumble.

Frankly would love this scenario as long as Pierce gets waived and ends up somewhere like LA. With the big men and SG's in this draft I think you have to get some assets that you can trade for a legit backup PG. Some of the SG's have PG potential and face it one of these days Danny will find his coveted combo guard.

Celtics smokescreen. Welcome to the Celts Shabazz.

I'm joking of course but idk if I'd take a report like that accurately, if Shabazz falls to 16 I could easily see DA taking him. Lottery talent

Ainge isn't afraid to take the gamble.  I'd guess Shabazz would be the easy choice if he's there at #16.

2. Orlando - Victor Oladipo
Quote:
Analysis: If the Cavs pass on Noel, the Magic are leaning strongly toward selecting him with the No. 2 pick in the draft. If Noel is off the board? Things get a little tougher. The Magic have explored a number of trade options if Noel isn't there at No. 2. If they can't work out a trade, it appears they continue to lean toward taking Oladipo over McLemore. While McLemore is a stronger offensive player, Oladipo's defense and his crazy motor hold a strong appeal for the Magic. Cody Zeller is a dark horse here at No. 2.

Cody Zeller could be a very good fit offensively alongside a center like Nik Vucevic with Vucevic's midrange and long two point jump-shooting. Spread the floor for Cody Zeller to use his height, length and post skills to his advantage down low against smaller fours.

Vucevic would hopefully be enough of a post threat to keep opposing centers off of Zeller. So if they did switch the matchups, Vucevic could exploit a good number of the opposing power forwards in the post.

Need to teach Vucevic how to anchor a defense to make it work overall but that would be the case anyway regardless of whether they take Zeller or not.

Won't Big Baby throw a tantrum?

My choices in descending order, if they are still on the board:
Shabazz - plays like Mashburn; instant offense.
Adams   - a very skillful and quick big.
        Goodwin - has a very high upside/potential; only 18.

Once again my draft binky goes from being projected as a late 20s pick to Lotto just outside our reach. I keep saying I won't fall for it, but I do it every year. I have no doubt that Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will be a solid nba pro.

I'm not at all excited about the guys projected to be around for us.
