KG to OKC for pick # 12, Perk and Nick Collison

OKC gets out of Perks contract, and instantly makes them a favorite to come out of the west with KG. Would KG wave his no trade clause to play with Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka? I would if I were him. Go out with a championship banner KG!  I definitely could see OKC doing this.

Folks, we are officially in rebuild mode. I'll take the #12 pick  this year, and I don't mind having the enforcer Perk back along with another big body in Collison who's contract isn't bad.

This trade works in the trade machine.

The whole point of rebuilding is to get good contracts for maximum flexibility. Perk is the opposite of that.

Now, if he gets amnestied by the Thunder, I could see grabbing him for that price.

Is there anyone we'd want at 12 that won't be there at 16?

The thing is Boston won't be a player in free agency until the summer after Perkins expires anyway, so if you can pick up another 1st and a credible young player like Collison, then I'm all for it.  I think this is a pretty solid trade for Boston and one that both teams might do.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Agree that Perks contract is rough. 3 more years 7.8 per! Ugh. Could we amnesty Perk? Not sure how that works. It's really just a way to accumulate picks. Pick at 12 and 16 or package and move up? Combine with Josh Smith sign and trade and get a pick for PP as well? This could accelerate the rebuild! iF, you nail the picks. BIG if!!

Ok, well, I'm not sure I'd call Collison a young player, but that's peanuts.

We're currently up to our necks in untradable contracts for this next season. Why add one more? It's not an asset, and we're stuck with the Corpse of the Player that was Perkins for two years. For the right to grab another player in the worst draft of the last thirteen years?

Not sure I agree with how bad this draft is. I think the lack of a clear #1 at the top of the draft has people exaggerating how bad this draft is. I'd love to come out of this draft with an athletic big (Dieng from Louisville for example) and a really good point guard (kid from Germany, Larkin???)

Rondo
AB
Jeff Green
Josh Smith
Perk

Bench

Sully
Collison
Larkin
Jet
Lee
Dieng (May start at the 5 by year end)

Amnesty perk if neccessary

I don't know what the deal is with the amnesty clause and trades.

I do know that I don't think the benefits of trading KG for that draft pick and taking back a bad contract (which, unfortunately, is all Perk is at this point) are worth it. Obviously we differ there.

Now Perk and Lamb and #12... I could see that. Maybe.

Guess I'm surprised at the lack of outrage/backlash from this suggested trade. Thought there would at least be some, "you can't give KG away for just that!".  Seems as though Celtic nation has accepted we aere in blow it up/rebuild mode. Personally I'm excited about this. Get younger!

Would anyone prefer the pick to be 2014? Better draft supposedly but safe to say it would be high 20's at best.

How about this instead: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=pj2d5vy
We could swipe picks or even get their pick back if they're desperate enough.
Yes we take back the awful contract of a corps, but we get back two young assests that can either stay or be flipped for someone else in the future

I think that the Celtics will try and unload Terry if they have to take on a bad contract like Perk. Something like KG and Terry for Perk, Lamb, a first and the Maynor trade exception (although I can't add the trade exception on the trade machine, so maybe its not even possible.)

This is a lot to give up for OKC, but it just might be a move that could get them a championship. For Boston, it provides them a lot of ammo to jumpstart the rebuilding process. If the Celtics decide they want to build around Rondo, bringing back Perk would be a good step.
