Per @ESPNAndyKatz, the exact Cavs offer for Kevin Love was Thompson, Waiters, and No. 1. #Twolves

But the Cavs are also exploring trading the top pick since they’re not in love with any one player who in a “normal” year wouldn’t be a top pick

According to a source, Cleveland offered the No. 1 pick, Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters to try and land Minnesota’s Kevin Love. But new Timberwolves president Flip Saunders won’t move Love.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Not enough for Kevin Love.

The broken hand and his incredibly poor FG% when he came back is a huge cause for concern.

I think this would be one of the better hauls they could get for him.

Meh if I were Minny,  I wouldn't. To be honest with you, I don't see how Cleveland's offer is any better than if the Celts offered Bradley, Green and Sully.

I haven't seen enough of Waiters and Thompson but I can't imagine that's equal offer for Love and the no 1 pick is just icing on the cake.

For Cleveland however, Love and Irving would be nasty! And imagine if Varajeo comes back healthy.

no 1 pick is not just any icing - it's razzle dazzle quadruple chocolate wazzam swirl twirl blitz.

Right now, Thompson is superior to Sully and Waiters has more potential than Bradley. While I really like Bradley, he's a good fit on a contender - not a rebuilding team like the T-Wolves. Thompson has already showed himself as a very good rebounder (11.7 and 9.4). He's proven whereas Sully has only shown flashes of brilliance.

Is there any chance Love resigns with the T-Wolves when he is a FA..i dont think so, so trade him now for 3 very promising players
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

To those saying they'd do it if they were Minny...

Why?  How is this trade going to improve their franchise?

If Minnesota loses Love, they need to be worried about alienating their fan base.  That would be three straight all-star caliber big men (KG, then Jefferson, now Love) that they would have failed to build a contending team around (aside a single season in '06) then watched the big man leave either in the middle of or before his prime.

I'd take the deal too. Getting Thompson Waiters and (whoever is #1) is a huge haul for Love.

I'm not a fan of trading an all star in his prime unless you're getting one back but 3 top-5 picks in consecutive drafts all on their rookie deals is a really...REALLY good offer. That is the rebuild lotto.

Rubio
Waiters
#1 pick (Porter)
Thompson
Pek

That is a talented team and if they get anything out of Derrick William they'll be a playoff team. Obvious it's not a home run but it's a really young, really cheap team. Give Pek 15M/yr and they're looking at a 8-9 man rotation for under $50M That is nuts in today's NBA, especially considering they'd be a low seed playoff team.

Id do that trade. I love Kevin (pun intended) and want to do anything we can to get him to come to Boston. But seriously do you think Cavs will offer irving the max deal when he gets to it or close to. The only other thing i see happening is them getting Irving then Love and being like

soooo.... Lebron, want another 3 rings.... will be like miami all over again. A tandem of Irving and Love is pretty solid though. What im not sold on is apart from those guys and varejao (who is an injury concern) that team has nothing.

I've noticed that people around here tend to value young players a lot more than real GMs do.  The actual chance that Waiters, Thompson or the number one pick in this years draft become even an all-star is low.  The chance that one of them become a Kevin Love type player is a pipe dream.  Love has shown franchise level potential and he hasn't reached his peak yet.  If you are a real GM, you don't trade the bird in hand for a couple of eggs.  You would most likely get fired for that.
