I'm a Smith fan.  I think playing with Rondo and KG would really help him right most of the issues people have with him, mainly his shot selection.  As I've said before, I don't think it's really given credit to Smith how they've never had a PG or a good offensive scheme.  They've never had any player I'd say is a good passer I can remember.

I think the team, just with him added, would be good.  Not saying a contender but Rondo leading, Jeff starting, a big rotation of KG, Smith, Sully.  The rebounding at least is a lot better and Smith would be a big weapon on the break and around the rim for Rondo.  We all have seen what he has done with more limited players like Bass or Wilcox.  Here's a better finisher and legit weapon on the break.

man i get so sick and tired of everytime this organization goes after a player or talks about bringing someone in they cut them off at the knees.  Bradley, Sullinger, Green all turned out pretty decent and half this site was goin crazy about how much they disliked these players.  My god, danny tries to give us some big time players and all some of you can do is sita round and belly ache about how mediocre we'll be.  We;re gettin younger and more talent, how can people not be excited. ::)

What's exciting about tying up 25% of our salary cap in a flawed player with a bad attitude?
DUNKS, monstrous huge dunks, chasedown blocks and breath taking athleticism. He is also a very good passer.

Although if it is for the max I'm not sure I'm on board.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Smith would help the team , especially at this point.

The guy does play hard, is only 27, and is immensely talented. He has also never played with a true pg that could get him easy looks and truly take advantage of his world class athleticism. I definitely think Rondo could do for Smith what Nash did for Amare in his prime Phoenix days.

i think stickin this team in the guaranteed middle, shooting more for the 4 seed, rather than shooting for the very end makes sense
if kg and smith are our ppl to build around, u need a couple shooters to come by. i don't think we're making a run at it this year. I think this is the test it out year. if we get between the 3-5 spots, i think we will get some ppl to help out and THEN make a run.
we aren't building around a 37 yr old kg with bone spurs in both ankles . If KG stays it will only be for 1 more year(unless they make a deep playoff run).

I forget who mentioned it earlier in the thread , but Spurs have 18 mil in cap room , If we can trade KG to the Spurs for a Trade Exception and a pick , I think that's the way to go

Then you have

PG: Rondo   / Terry
SG: Bradley / Lee
SF: Green   /
PF: Smith   / Sully
 C: Dieng   / Melo

*Have a 10mil trade exception from KG to try and find a young center or SG ?

sorry
i don't think i meant to type kg...meant rr

but i agree
but i think if KG did stay, he wouldn't be too bad in this lineup

Is he that flawed ?  How will he perform in a new system ?  All we've seen is the Atlanta stuff.

One things for sure, it's a heckuva start to a so called rebuild.  Add in the picks we have coming up in deep drafts and we're right back in this ballgame.

no one has realistically answered my question about why Paul is worth 15.3 mil and Josh Smith isn't worth 15 mil.

See, I don't think adding a 28 year old guy on a huge contract is a good start to a rebuild at all.  A couple of middling picks in a deep draft probably aren't going to significantly contribute to our rebuild, either.

And yes, he's that flawed.  He's got terrible shot selection, and he's got a bad attitude.

The answer is D, none of the above.  They're both not worth that money.

Paul isn't worth $15 million.  We overpaid him at the end of his contract so that we could underpay him at the beginning of his extension.

i agree with that
i just see many people out here saying let's keep paul, etc. i'm just wondering why pay him 15 and not a guy almost 10 years younger.

Does the shot selection and attitude change if he's playing in a different situation ?

The difference is that Pierce is one more year max (or more likely traded at the deadline) where as we would have Smith at that money for 4-5 years.  My concern is that I don't want to tie up too much money in Josh Smith.  That would be a negative anchor on the team trying to rebuild.

I said this on the front page, but I'll say it again.

His shot selection isn’t the best, true. But let’s look at the ballhandlers he’s played with in his career: an-over-the-hill Mike Bibby, Joe “Iso” Johnson, and Jeff Teague. Not exactly the greatest facilitators.

Who said the Celtics give Smith 15 million? If all of a sudden they agree to 12 mil a year then it becomes a much better deal. Agreed? I also want to make 5 million a day at my job. Not going to happen.
