Dieng.  is drafted.  young talented center who can contribute right away.....fills a need ...glaring one, we probably don't have KG,  other than Fab we have no center.

Frank will coach,   too cheap to hire Hollins who would be perfect in the Celtic. classic style team

make Danny coach and Bird GM

I think Pierce gets moved to clevland for #31 + #33.

Then I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cs trade down for a player they want and another 2nd maybe to bulls for #20 and #49?

For the sake of this I'll say they keep #16.

I think at #16 they take Larkin, if he is off the board they go big with Olynk (who i think falls to them), Nogueria, or Gobert.

At #31 and #33 I think they go for BPA looking for any first round sliders (Ledo?) out side of that they put an eye towards who they took at #16. If its Larkin then I see them taking a big who fell out of first round. At #31 Gobert, Dieng or Withey in that order would be possibility. If they go big at #16 I would think PG at #31 Canaan, Jackson or Kabongo (Kabongo seems like an ainge guy). #33 I would think the pick would be the best wing player available or a Euro to stash. My guess would be Crabbe, Bullock or Goodwin.

Another possibility is that DA could use 31+33 to move up. A team that doesn't want to deal with guaranteed money can trade they 20s first and a future 2nd for #31 +#33 and draft two players to leave in Europe. Bulls, Knicks and Nets all have cap issues.

SO with all that my guess on how it actually goes down

#16 Nogueria
trade Pierce

#31 Kabongo (my gut says he fits the AB/Rondo physical profile that ainge seems to like in a PG)

#33 Archie Goodwin (Cs haven't worked him out but if he is there its good value)

Mavs
Wiz
Hornet

We trade Pierce to the Cavs / Mavs (3 team trade?) and get those two 2nd round picks.

We select Larkin, Ledo, and Withey.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
I think Pierce gets traded to Cleveland for their 2 second rounders + a 15m trade exception.

If Dieng is still around at #16, we take him or Plumlee. Danny uses one of those 2nd rounders to get a PG and the other get the BPA that's left on the board.

I do think we trade KG, but not on draft night. I could see their being mutual interest between him and Houston if they miss out on D12 because of his relationship with Kevin McHale.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

well, IF IF IF cleveland agrees to take pierce for # 19 and a low 2nd rounder, then things change a lot. but ainge's philosophy should be to swing for the fences and go for upside, not safe picks.

at #16 i see shane larkin.  a pg with all the tools, vision, energy you want...but only 5'11". but schroeder is a possibility here as well.

next, the celtics will take dieng (center) at  #19. great defensive player and at this stage of the draft you go for someone who has a clear talent rather than a star.

second round, i bet on james ennis. he is a 6' 7" sf who might be the sleeper of the draft and well worth a 2nd round pick.

wild card is the clips pick at #25. i am tempted to go with tony mitchell (pf) since he has lots of talent....but he is saddled with a bad attitude and work ethic. big big gamble. instead, i think ainge goes for jamal franklin. athletic, great energy, defense, passer. outside shot is only so-so. but reminds me a bit of tony allen...but better brains.

If the Celtics keep the #16 pick then they take Schroeder if he's there (doubtful)or Mason Plumlee. However, I expect Danny to acquire an additional pick either in a PP deal or by dealing down.

It breaks down something like this:

#16 Schroeder or more likely Plumlee

#19 Franklin or Ledo and #31 Jeff Withey or Erick Green (Cleveland deal)

Regardless of how they acquire the second pick, they seem to be only interested in tall shooting guards, centers, and point guards.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Shabazz slips and we grab him at 16.

We trade Pierce and end up getting a late first at which point we draft Dieng.

Danny names himself coach later in the offseason.

We deal KG after the big money free agents sign, if Pierce isn't moved during the draft he will be moved around the same time as KG.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

We draft shabazz. No trades and no coach.

I think you are correct. There isn't enough time to hire the new coach between now and the draft, and we are unlikely to make a move in this draft without the coach on board unless it's Pierce and/or Garnett for one of the top picks (and that's extremely unlikely).

Muhammed isn't a lock, though. I think the pick will be a moonshot. Schroeder.

Some interesting moves here. But the one about Josh Smith. How do we get him isn't he a FA? Sign and trades can't happen till july 1st i thought.

My prediction is that Kelly O slips and Danny is too much of a stats nerd to let someone with 30+ PER go by him.  I actually think that dude will be okay, though.  Like Brad Miller who can run the floor better

I would be shocked if the Cs drafted Olynyk. He's a 22 y/o 1 year wonder who tested next-to-last athletically during the NBA combine. Pairing him with Sully would make a seriously unathletic front court.

Prediction:

Celtics don't do any trades. Just select a player at #16. That player is a PG, probably either Dennis Schroeder or Shane Larkin.
Celtics fan for life.

I still think Ainge goes with Tony Mitchell at #16.

He's got every trait Ainge loves.  Athletic combo forward with skills.  Runs the floor well.  Easy target for Rondo in the open court.  Great size for a 3, & athletic enough to play 4 (Also a long wingspan).  He can guard multiple positions on the NBA level, & is quick enough to defend anybody.  You could not score against him at the collegiate level. Shot blocker who creates a ton of turnovers, & rebounds extremely well both offensively & defensively.  Passionate player.  Has to work on the shot a bit.

Tony Allen in a 6'8" body ?

C's take BPA at #16 which may be either Schroeder or Dieng at that point.

Not expecting any deals prior to the draft but would not be surprised to see KG and PP both moved post-draft to teams that he had an arrangement with for players selected in the draft.
