We tried trading ray every year. He didn't want to be in that situation anymore.
Oh, but he wasn't going to be (can you say "no-trade clause"?) So this wasn't about not being in a situation, it was about holding a grudge.
What are you talking about man.

We tried trading him every year.  2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. In 2012 he actually was told he had been traded for OJ Mayo, but Memphis backed out at the last second.  Ray was a trade chip to this franchise as far back as 2009.  We just never found a good deal for him.   What "no trade clause" are you talking about.  He was underappreciated by management, the fans and his teammates.  So he bailed.  Dude's a champion.  He made a wise decision.  A guy of his talents doesn't belong on a fringe playoff team... he belongs in the closing seconds of Game 6 of the NBA Finals where he can nail dagger three pointers and save his team's season.

Your getting a little ridiculous.

Paul Pierce was on his way out last year and the Nets chose Gerald Wallace instead.

Rondo has been in trade talks forever.

Ray Allen was talking about how the NBA is a business and apparently he is in tears and willing to throw 6 million in the trash because he was almost traded?

Crybaby.......have you ever heard of an athlete doing something similar to spite his own team?

I get that people don't care about doc and we got a first and we are possibly rebuilding.

Still he had three years left in his contract had been coaching here for 10 years had a love fest with the media (the media who is still massaging his feet) about how loyal he is and how he is showing how loyal he is by signing a ling term contract.

Again who does this??

Firstly Paul Pierce is an entirely different story all together because we were going to blow it up not trade him for a chance to get better, huge difference.

Secondly, so what if Rondo has been in trade talks forever? Rondo resigned in 09. If he had the option of leaving he very might well have if he was upset about being dangled all the time. Again thats not a fair comparison.

Lastly it wasn't all to spite his own team, he just won a ring if you didn't notice. And knocked down the most pivotal shot of the series. Smart move. Crybaby? The guy doesn't want to be on a team that didn't want him, makes sense to me. He was a free agent, the man can choose what he wants to do.

He got no loyalty why should he have given any back to the C's? Answer me that.

You have to wonder if some guys just get tired of Danny's act and that has played a role in Doc and Ray leaving.

By all accounts Rondo was a factor in both decisions as well.

I felt hosed by Ray, because the idea last summer was to run it back for at least one more season. Everyone was on board except Ray. It was the failure of Ubuntu.

This year, not so much. The feeling just isn't there. And even though Doc said that he would stay for the rebuild, why do it, if he and Danny agrees that it's time for something new?

Doc, have fun coachinf for a racist discriminatory owner.

Sounds like a hoot! Anytime you get that chance you gotta jump at it. He should be embarrased. I think anyone joinging that organization by choice should be embarrased

I feel like you were planning on replying back to my comments but just kind of rambled on and didn't address anything.

Not feeling bad for Ray when the Cs brought him here, paid him more money than anyome else would, played more minutes than any other big 3 member and is now the 7th man of the heat.

I didn't say anything abiut loyalty. Just "who does that"

At that point, the Celtics weren't Ray's "own team." He was a free agent. He was free to go where he felt wanted and where he felt was a better situation for him.

I'm pretty sure I addressed everything, but I'll go back through your post point by point, sentence by sentence and see if I can do a better job.

Your comparison to Paul Pierce doesn't make sense because it was an entirely different situation since we were blowing it up if we moved him.

Your comparison to Rondo doesn't make sense because he resigned in 09 and hasn't been a free agent so there is no way he could leave even if he wanted to.

And I'm not feeling bad for Ray, but the argument that he "hosed us" when we tried to move him several times just doesn't hold water for me.

Lastly in response to your comments about "who does that" or "who does that to spite his own team", in my opinion it was partially about holding a grudge, but also about winning. Ray could have come back for more money and playing time, but he also wouldn't have won a championship this year. On the other hand he could have taken less money and a smaller role for a better chance at winning (which they did). That's ring chasing to me and that happens in the NBA. You want a list? Here:

Karl Malone
Chris Webber
Shaq
Gary Payton
Michael Finley
Kevin Willis

You can add Ray Allen to that list.

This stopped being Ray's "own team" the day he was informed he was traded to the Grizzlies.

No you didn't say anything about loyalty, but other than loyalty why else would he return? Money doesn't matter to him and winning does. The Heat were a better team. Why stick it out with the C's when they didn't have your back?
