Love to know why so many on this site hate Brian Shaw.

Makes ZERO sense!

I'm not familiar with his coaching. Is he bad?

I think it's more about him not wanting to play here 20 yrs ago than his actual coaching abilities IMO.

Triangle offense + Rajon Rondo as your PG?

It's nothing against his skills. I wish him the best of luck in Denver and hope he finally thrives as a head coach after a seeming eternity of interviews. He just wasn't a fit in Boston.

Well, he was reportedly interested in the C's coaching job. Maybe Lionel Hollins now?

I just pray it's not Lawrence Frank.

I hear J-Kidd is finalizing Frank as an assistant in BKN. God, I hope the C's do end up getting Hollins. He'd be my #1 choice by miles considering the field.

Yeah me too. George Karl would be high on my list too.

I just hope Ainge doesn't go cheap and hires some johnny come lately like Tyronne Lue or Brian Scalabrine.

It will be interesting to see whether he brings in the Triangle offense or not.

I think he has the wings for it with Iggy (if he stays) and Gallinari but not the centers (not strong enough passers) or the point guards (used to spending more time on the ball + high number of PnRs for Ty Lawson). So it looks like it would be pretty tough to implement.

I think Shaw is a fantastic communicator and has brilliant man management skills. You could see that in him as a player. That respect his teammates gave him. That mentoring. So I am excited to see if he can get through to JaVale McGee and get some more out of him.

Ohh, Shaw won't be bringing in the Triangle offense

Quote
Shaw is adept at coaching the triangle offense, which Jackson utilized while coaching the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, but Shaw said he won't use the offensive set with a team that thrived in a fast-paced, free-flowing system under Karl.

"Although I played in the triangle and coached the triangle, I also played in a lot of systems, so that's not something I'm looking to bring to the Nuggets and try to implement," Shaw said. "I'm going to look at a lot of film of things the team did well, running was one of them. And I'll continue to build on things they did well and get more of a feel for the personnel and what I think will be conducive to everybody's ability."

Good for Denver. I think they really need a young coach to handle a relatively young team.

Maybe we could sign Calipari (who I think could fairly handle Rajon's reputation and behavior). Or, Scal on an interim basis.

good for shaw, good for the celtics. i dont think his offensive schemes fit with the celtics talent. this team thinks defense first.

having said that, the next coach, i hope, will be someone who can teach younger players how to be good, fundamental basketball players. not only will the celtics be filled with younger players who need such coaching for the next few years, it makes these players more desirable in trades, which is what ainge really wants.

and defense...i hope the new coach emphasize defense as well.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
