"First decent trade rumble of draft week: Deng to Wiz in deal for No. 3 pick? It's been explored. @TrueHoop link: http://es.pn/18bkn3l" from Marc Stein espn

This would be a very interesting trade.

The Wiz get alot better with the addition of Deng to John Wall, Beal, Serephin and Nene in the starting 5.

The bulls pick up Okafor and the #3 pick, this gives them incredible depth at the 4-5 and allows them to add either Mclemore or Odadipo.

Also gives them a lot more leeway to move Boozer.  Wouldn't be surprised if this goes through in some form.

A defensive lineup of Rose, Butler, Oladipo, Okafor and Noah would be pretty sick, though scoring would be a problem.  Put in Taj if the opposing 4 is more mobile.

Wow bad move by Washington. Just draft Porter and keep a very good defensive center on an expiring deal in Okafor.

I like this for both teams.  Wiz get much better and can make a much-needed playoff run to season their young players and make some use of their highly paid veterans, while the Bulls can get some more youth to put around Rose.

Rose + Noah + Gibson + Butler + #3 gives the Bulls plenty to work with moving forward.

Otto Porter, McLemore, or Oladipo would all seem to be solid picks at #3.

Yeah, I don't either.  They need scoring, and they should be looking for that, if they are going to trade their pick.

Wall - Beal - Deng - Seraphin/Booker - Nene

That lineup would have plenty of scoring.  Just need to have a bench that's not totally terrible.  They'd still have Ariza and Webster on the wings, which isn't so bad, and Booker and Singleton are okay backup bigs.

If that happened wonder if they would be willing to trade Noah?

KG for Noah? :)

Not a fan of Deng. This would hurt the Wiz big time long term . .. but it might excite their fan base for a two or three years.
I'd much rather nab that #3 and continue building organically over there.

Deng and Okafor make the same money, right? I think that the Wizards are better off taking the pick and then saving Okafor's contract for a more lucrative move next year. I don't think they'll do this deal.

Washington not interested according to most recent reports or so says Washington Post.

Seems to make sense.  Just didn't see the value to Washington in trading #3 AND Okafor for merely Deng.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

If the Bulls are targeting a player they can get with the #3 pick, they need to give up more assets.  If the Bulls are trying to salary-dump Deng's contract, they need to accept back something less than the #3 with Okafor, which is hard to do without being obvious they are dumping, something I suspect they would rather not seem.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Dunno why Wiz would give up someone like Anthony Bennet for Deng.
I think Bulls would slide Butler into starting 5 and take Bennet at the 4 for when Boozer departs next year.
That means Gibson is trade asset or good 6th man.

The Wizards tend to be stupid, so I would be completely unshocked if they made a trade so bad that the immediate consensus is that they got robbed.
