What happen with Doc is not normal. Not only beacuse he had still 3 years contract to coach Cs team, but most important to explain why he left. Everybody is suprised by Docs decision going to Coach Clippers.

he doesnt have to give a reason.  its cool if he does, but he doesnt have to.  he will give a politically correct reason anyhow, if he chooses to.  fans entitlement is crazy sometimes.

He doesnt want to coach a team that does not have stars. He does not want to tarnish his W/L record with this year's Celtics iteration.
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

Pretty simple... Boston wants to tank.  Doc wants to coach a team trying to win.  Boom.  Done.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
From what I've heard from WEEI Sean Grande and Cedric Maxwell.

Doc wants to run it back with the guys, Danny wants to rebuild and Doc lost interest.

If that's the case, I love Doc's loyalty to the guys, but I resent him from not honoring his contract. So, I'm torn.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Doc wanted to win.

Celtics wanted to tank.

You guys wanted to bash him for the sake of it.
I like Marcus Smart

While that might be true, I think there's something of a "no win" aspect to coaching the Clips. Were they really a coach away from being on the level of the Thunder or the Spurs?

Seems to me that all is not well and has not been for awhile in Celtic land. The next few seasons are going to be awesome. I predict a ne GM 2 years from now.

On your point, I think he will face far more pressure and scrutiny with LAC - and more potential damage to his reputation if the Clips don't meet expectations.

Not sure how anyone could see him as taking the easier path here, particularly with the media firestorm we've seen over the last few weeks.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA 4h

Before Clips offered 1st round pick to Celtics on Sunday, Rivers had informed Boston he planned to return for '13-14 season, source tells Y!

Simple as that. We didn't want to pay him 7m and he was intrigued by the prospect of a contender. He doesn't owe us an explanation
