Docs worth a first. The Clippers are cheap so yes his influence got us a first round pick. But in the scheme of things I'd say a future first is fairly cheap for a coach with the reputation of Doc. Anything less is a joke, glad DA was laughing
Yea the problem is the Clippers will likely be good in 2 years, so this is like a high 2nd rounder, I.e not really a first rounder. Not many quality guys come out of the 25-30 pick in the draft.
Still, better than nothing i suppose.
Not sure I agree. If KG goes, he will be nearly 40. So they will have Paul, Griffin, 40 year old KG, and maybe Aaron Afflalo?
They wont be awful but I don't see them being a top 5 team.
you don't think Griffen, paul, KG (if the other shoe drops) and Deandre Jordan is a pretty solid core to build around for the next few years?
They finished 56-26 this year man. It's always possible that Sterling fires up the idiot machine, fails on signing Paul, and trades Jordan for a sack of potatoes, but i think there going to be pretty good 2 season from now, as long as they don't somehow lose Griffin and Paul. guys want to play in LA, they can attract talent to play in lob city.
You do realize that they won't get KG without sending us Jordan so how can include both Jordan and KG on the Clippers?
You do realize that either way, they will be pretty good right? And also that they will have cap space and also be in LA, not a huge stretch that they will be able to fill out the roster around either potential group.
I just find it hard to believe that in two years, they will have so magically fallen off the upward swing that they are on these last few years that this pick somehow becomes less than in the mid to late 20's, barring, as I said, screwing up and losing Paul or a major injury in 2015.
and also, I'm not so sure that we're married to KG for Jordan. Danny wants bledsoe, who they value higher than Jordan. who's to say he won't up the package now that it's just KG for a player, if they even go that route?
Again, it's better than nothing, but the posters acting like Danny got such incredible value by trading a coach for a first round draft pick are discounting what that pick will likely be. In the NBA, more than any other league, "First round draft pick" means nothing. is it a top 5? lottery? top 15? those are the money picks.
I always think of the NBA draft as essentially 4 rounds, in a good year. You have 1-10 ( Actual first round) 11-20ish (2nd round) mid 20's to end (third round) day two (total crap shoot.)
