Anyone who thinks we can get even Cousins alone for Rondo is delusional. I doubt we could even get Evans alone for Rondo. How people believe we can get both, especially now that Rondo is recovering from a torn ACL, is beyond me.

Repeat after me.  DMC IS NOT AVAILABLE!!!!  Read the articles...

I´m not saying that DMC <-> Rondo is a possibility (let alone including former ROY Evans), I´m saying that that is about the only deal involving Rondo I would be comfortable with.

Yup. Cousins and Evans. I'll take back Salmans to make it work.

I always get a chuckle about the posters here who are dying to load up with players from a 24 win team.

...wait, that's your line, isn't it?
That's weak.  If you added KG and Pierce to the Kings, they'd probably win closer to the 41 that Boston won with Rondo.

G - Isaiah Thomas, Ty Evans
G - Marcus Thornton, Ty Evans
F - Paul Pierce, Travis Outlaw
F - Kevin Garnett, Chuck Hayes
C - DeMarcus Cousins, Jason Thompson

That would be a pretty good squad. Somewhere around .500.

I think they would bring Tyreke off the bench. Too many guys who need the ball as it is. Adding an over-dribbler like him to the mix would make things too difficult. Better as a bench scorer I reckon.

Backcourt would be a little dodgy but not much they could do about that. Maybe if they added a PG with their 2013 first rounder. Someone like Trey Burke. That would help. Maybe cut Tyreke lose if that happens.

Fun to think about Pierce and KG on that team. It would be nice to see veterans like that and a big with such a refined skill-set alongside Cousins. I think it would do him the world of good.

...nobody.

That kind of production and that bargain of a salary, add along a very competitive attitude and takes over on big games is a keeper.

Trade Rondo for Wade
Yeah, this is the idea that keeps popping up in my head too.

Let Pierce and Garnett finish their careers and give them a main go-to scorer to play off of in D-Wade. Then Boston enters a long term rebuilding process (Charlotte Bobcats territory).

Bring in a new PG via free agency. It looks like there are a couple of good ones available. Calderon would be the best bet. Jarrett Jack next option. Devin Harris third option. Actually, Jack would probably be better than Calderon alongside Wade. Better able to function off the ball.

G: Jack, Bradley
G: Wade, Terry
F: Pierce, J.Green
F: Sully, Bass
C: Garnett, (minimum contract free agent or #16 pick)

Or trade one of Pierce / J.Green for an upgrade at power forward.

G: Jack, Bradley
G: Wade, Terry
F: J.Green, (free agent - S.Jackson?)
F: Josh Smith, Sully, Bass
C: Garnett, (free agent)

I kind of feel like the first team is better but then I keep reminding myself how weak Boston's big man rotation was last year. I think I take my chances with the second team. Maybe try to trade J.Green for P.Millsap instead of Pierce for J.Smith.

G: Jack, Bradley
G: Wade, Terry
F: Pierce (free agent - S.Jackson?)
F: Millsap, Sully, Bass
C: Garnett, (free agent)

A 20-25ppg in Wade. A second option in Pierce for 16-18ppg. A third option in Millsap for 15-17ppg. Jack as a fourth option for 14-15ppg and Garnett as the fifth option for 13-15ppg.

Then Sully, Bradley and Terry as key bench guys with a pair of minimum contract players added to round out the bench. Maybe try to trade Bass for a player at one of those positions.

I imagine Courtney Lee would go to Miami with Rondo as a cap makeweight.

G: Rondo, Chalmers
G: C.Lee, Ray Allen
F: LeBron, M.Miller, J.Jones
F: Haslem, Battier, R.Lewis
C: Bosh, C.Andersen, J.Anthony

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Everything the Celtics do will be for naught. Heat win the championship more easily if we do this trade.

Wade is getting old; we are seeing this. Rondo is entering his prime. They might not be as a good team in the regular season, but I have no doubt in my mind that Rondo will turn it up in the playoffs, like he always does.

Do you remember in the NBA Finals (more game 6 and game 7), when Lebron simply took over? Wade and Bosh were not on the floor. They lost momentum when they got back in the game.

I'm just saying that I think that replacing an elite scorer for an elite play-maker would make the Heat so much better in the half-court and overall as a team. You can always find scorers in this league, but it is difficult to find players like Rondo, who can create for others and make those around him play at an elite level.
I like Marcus Smart

That's a fairly meaningless comment. Add PP and KG to the Celts 24 win team and they'd win 41 games as well. OTOH, stick KG and PP on the Kings and they won't get to the conference finals like they did with Rondo running the show.

I'm always a bit surprised that more people don't rate Rondo higher than they do based on his ability to consistently play like a superstar once the playoffs roll around.

I say, keep him and build around him.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Trade Rondo for Spoelstra... not

Don't trade our best player.

The dead trade will revive on Monday, and Pierce will be traded to some team who buys him out to save 10M.

What you are saying doesn't make any sense. If that were to happen, the Celts would be getting a quality center that they desperately need.

Doesn't matter if he was playing for 24 win team or 124 win team.

fans with enough basketball IQ to appreciate his value.  Same guys who want to do thought Telfair was better.

Yup, those who want to trade Rondo automatically think that Telfair was a better player. Great logic :-[
