I think we need to find a team over the cap, with holes to fill, and a large expiring contract to deal. Am I right in that that is our most likely partner?

Indy might be interested, they need bench depth and will not have cap room any time soon if they plan to re-sign West.

If we were really interested in a re-load I think we might be able to get Granger for Bass, Lee and another piece (a pick?).

Gotta trade them individually. Not together.

Agree 100% for Lee and Terry. We might be able to package Bass with one of the two - his deal is actually not so bad given his performance last year, and he plays a position that seems tougher to fill.

Wasn't Memphis willing to absorb Lee into a trade exception?

Maybe we can get a future 2nd rounder or something. Or just a straight salary dump..

The bummer is that those 2nd round picks we traded for Lee are 34th, 39th and 45th this year. At the time I thought it was a steal for us - now, not so much. With Danny's draft acumen I would wager that one of those picks would yield a player with better value than Lee has right now.

It is fair to say, also, that the value of these players on the open market goes up as free agency goes along and the big names go off the table? My thinking is that with an NBA minimum salary requirement, that these guys all become more valuable to teams looking to absorb rather than attempting to sign players of relative talent. The reason is because players of relative talent, age, are going to want 4 year deals. Here they can meet the requirement, fill a position of need, and do it on shorter term deals without any effort spent on negotiations. That's if Ainge is just looknig to dump anyway.

I think our best shot might be at the trade deadline next year. Suppose a contender suffers an injury and needs a replacement player for a stretch run, or realizes that they are not deep enough. They'd probably give up some young assets or a decent pick if they thought one of these guys could push them over the edge.

I think we are stuck with Bass until next summer when he comes an expiring contract.

I think Courtney Lee is a very good role playing two guard that several teams will want. I like Boston's chances of bringing back either an expiring contract or a quality rotation player in a trade for Lee.

I am pessimistic about Terry's trade possibilities. Small hope that some playoff team thinks they can revive his career and get something useful out of him. Maybe they give up an expiring deal for him. But I would think it is far more likely that nobody will give up anything worthwhile for Terry and that we are stuck with him too.

I would trade any of them for any draftpicks you can get, no matter how bad. Sports is entering a new era where money will be key. Revenues are dropping all over the place and those franchises that recognize this have the best chance. The very top player will always get paid. However average salaries will drop a lot and the Celtics need to shed themselves of any over average contracts for average players,

I would not trade Lee. While he had a bad season, I think he's capable of bouncing back and that contract is worth every penny if we get the real Courtney Lee.

Bass and Lee at this point is hard to trade for even value. If Danny really wants to move them, he has to accept the fact that he's getting 60-75 cents for the dollar value here.

I personally don't mind trading Jet to this year's second rounder and another future one. I'd probably do the same with Bass but I think he could probably land a late 1st. That is if they are really needed to be moved.

First off I give Utah a call.  They are so far under the cap it's ridiculous.  They might have interest in one of those 3 as a role player.

I also give Memphis a call about Lee or Terry.
