I'd be down with this dependant upon who is left on the board at 16. I think it makes a lot of sense to take a chance on him and hope he's just been a victim of circumstance in his first year - drafted into that hot mess that is the Kings, and sat on the bench at Hou due to them making a run to the playoffs.
He's definitely very raw but he was an off-the-bench guy behind the Morris twins his first two years at Kansas, and only played 7.2 & 14.6 mins per game in those years. He's got good physical attributes and, if we are rebuilding/tanking, it seems worth a punt to give him some quality minutes and see if his skills can increase.
I think his back story plays a part in this too (can be read
here). The guy has to be feeling that his chance of a solid NBA career (and future for him and his sister) has slipped dramatically this year. Gotta be worth giving a guy with his apparent work ethic and drive, and that reason for motivation, a shot to pan out.
Wherever he ends up I'll be rooting for him to get it together.
