I never liked the Spurs, but I have a lot of respect for Parker after this series. That said, I know some will disagree... but I know Rondo wouldn't have laid down the way Parker did tonight. He would've been beast mode, at his best. For that reason, I didn't count out the Cs the last couple of years the way I did the Spurs tonight. At least we're bringing this guy back.

No matter how much we struggle next year, I'd bet he's going to take it very personally when the Cs play the Heat, Knicks, etc. That, and any/all off-season ammunition, will bring him to new heights this year. Can't wait to see him in big-time, nationally televised games, with all the weight on his shoulders.

Agreed, though I'll say that I don't think Parker laid down tonight--all three of the Spurs mainstays looked like they left it all on the court.

Rondo's definitely got a higher ceiling than Parker when all systems are go. I don't think anyone can dispute that.

I just hope DA can put the right team around him to make him succeed, since he's only got three or four years of that ceiling left.

I think Parker's hamstring was limiting him a lot more than anybody let on.  He had none of his quickness and shiftiness after that injury.

Back in '07 when I got league pass, I had to pick a team to follow. I watched a bunch of games, but from the very first game I watched (a Celtics game) I was blown away by the Celtics because of two things.

1) Our Defense
2) About how ridiculously awesome that little point guard was

With all the talk of the big three, Rondo was the guy that stood out to me.

I'm still here, and I've grown fond enough of the Boston history to stick around regardless of who's wearing the green. Between Bill, Larry and Red, I'll bleed green forever - and for now, that means cheering for the engine that stirs the drink.

RONDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I agree with you guys re: Parker, he wasn't himself after that injury. Unfortunately, the rest of the team wasn't either. But you can't teach this... and for someone so gifted, to have it... awesome

Rondo is my favorite Point Guard. I love Rondo's game and I love watching him when he's in his zone. Not only is it amazing to see but he looks almost unguardable/unstoppable. It's almost unreal how a point guard can take over a game tha way Rondo does. He's a special talent and I hope Danny keeps him on tha roster.

Parker is great too. Parker, in this series to me has re-established himself as tha best point guard. At least out west. And while it wasn't one of his best games, I wouldn't say he laid down. Parker gave a great effort all series.

But I hope Rondo remains a Celtic whether tha C's are moving on from Pierce, KG, and Doc or not.

Most certainly. His unpredictability makes him amazing to watch.

I just find myself at the edge of my seat any time he's on the court.

You just know he's going to do something downright impossible, every, single, game, and make it look like the most normal thing in the world.

That, and his theatrics, like the hop-step after a layup.

I think it's pretty incredible that in a time when the league is so utterly stacked with point guards that Rondo still manages to land himself in the top five.

TPs to everyone,

The thing that I really love about Rondo's game (and it was well evident in that video) is his ability to make defenses look silly.  With most great players, you know what they want to do, but you just can't stop it.  With Rondo, defenses really don't know what he's going to do, and it frequently leaves them baffled.

I've never seen more good defensive players on good defensive teams running around like chickens with their heads cut off, looking like complete amateurs, than when they are trying to guard a zoned in Rajon Rondo.

It's fun to watch, and it's what makes him such a unique and great player.

C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I agree at this point I don't even care who's coaching us next year just looking forward to Rondos return and watching Sully's growth.

Weirdly enough, and maybe it's only weird because I don't watch the Spurs all too often, but I get the same feeling watching Ginobili sometimes--usually when he fires off a "where on earth is that going...oh, ok. That's where" pass.

And the inevitable "Rondo's got a new teammate and he's going to throw him a pass absolutely no one is expecting and the dude is going to fumble it away because he's not speaking Rondo fluently" pass. Those are fun, even if they're turnovers.

a fun video that most of us probably saw a couple years back

the association episode 1 part about rondo, scroll to 2:48 where it begins, talks about his role from 2008 moving forward:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tm2SDlKeGnA

also can someone help me decipher what he says at 4:24?

"____ ______, ____ dont help so much.... big ray, i got the curl, when they curl i got that pass"

I think thats what he says but im not sure.
