That sometimes you can practice all you want and it still won't amount to much?

He is part of the anti-Rondo camp.

If you had 20 bucks down on Rondo hitting or missing a wide-open 18 foot jumper, which way do you bet?

Rondo had a high FG% in spite of his not-so-excellent jumper, not because of it.

I like Rondo, I'm just making a joke about his shooting. Jeez.

This is a sensitive time, buddy bear.

It's psychological, too. Bet you'd marvel at his shooting ability if you saw him in an empty gym. Honestly.

That's true. In the handful of games I got to see before he went down with his ACL injury, it seemed like he was finally making defenses pay for leaving him open.

You know, five years after we won the championship.  ;D

You should look at his actual percentages, though.  He still doesn't take many, and defensive strategy helps, but he's become a very good to excellent mid-range shooter.

I would hazard a guess that defenders sag off Chris Paul much more than Rondo in that particular scenario.

Right. See my post above. He'd really started to own that shot when he went down.

I wouldn't quite go that far.  He's not a guy who can just pull up and hit from anywhere.  What he seems to have done, however, is picked a few different spots on the floor and really worked at mastering those shots.  Then, he takes nearly all of his jumpers from those spots.

It works for him.  I'd like to see him get that corner three and those foul shots.  He doesn't have many other holes in his game when he's playing hard.

this season rondo was absolutely money from mid-range as well as layups, but shoots poorly everywhere else (but smartly those are low volume shots)

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
His jump-shot was never the problem, it's been all in his head. He's always been reluctant to shoot and has looked uncomfortable when defenses forced him to. When he shoots with confidence he's been pretty solid. The free throw shooting on the other-hand needs some real work. His jumpshot has progressed, but his free-throw shooting hasn't in the least.

his free throw percentage increases in the playoffs from around 60% to almost 70%.

I think part of his low free throw percentage is the fact that he knows the games arent as important so sub-consciously he isnt focused as hard into making those free throws.

he's an all-around better player, i think its the fact that he puts his life into the playoffs. thats what he lives for.
