Paul Pierce would not be part of this deal, however after the KG and Rivers moves the Celtics would buy Pierce out of his contract (the team can buy out the final year and $15 million of his deal for just $5 million before July 1). After that Pierce would be a free agent expected to sign with the Clippers.

If we could do that and try and flip whatever else we could in a sign and trade for Josh Smith that i would be extremely happy.

Rondo
Gordon
Green
Smith
DJ

That is a very good young team.

This isn't surprising at all.

At least we get to watch Doc River, KG, and Chris Paul playing with one of the best point guards in the league next season . . . for the Clippers.

I think not getting anything for Pierce would be a joke.  :\

afraid in the end he walks and goes home to LA to play with KG and Doc. You know that is a part of the clippers overall plan

I hope not. I really do not want to see Pierce end up on the Clippers along with KG.

I mean, if Pierce isn't going to be winning any playoff games in Boston this year, wouldn't you like to see him winning somewhere else alongside KG?  We could latch onto that as Celtics fans.

He's gone one way or another, I would just hope we could get something for him.

This isn't surprising at all.

I'd find it very surprising if Danny can't find a single team out there that needs cap space and is willing to trade something of value for the ability to waive him.

I mean not even a second rounder?

I've accepted the deal we got from LAC for KG and Doc. 2 firsts and DJ is better than nothing, I guess. But if we simply waive Pierce and hand him to LAC for free? Its like getting mugged by Sacks all over again.

Not only that but we aren't even sending him there for free, we have to pay him 5m on top of that.

Danny has to find a deal out there or I'd rather keep Pierce and trade him at the deadline. Its unfair to PP, but 16m expiring at the deadline would be appealing and some other teams might be interested in bringing him in for the playoffs. Ainge is a GM, he shouldn't be in the business of giving talent away for free.

I just focus on the players / coach.  I like those guys, though my opinion of Doc Rivers has been wayyyyyyyy downhill after this whole business.

Doc is a hypocrite who talks a big game about loyalty and ubuntu but he's just as mercenary as anybody.  He wants to win.  Which is fine.  But don't pretend like you care about sticking with the same team through thick and thin.

I don't think this is going to happen. I wouldn't worry about it.

Pierce has too much value as a trade asset to simply buy him out.
