It sounds like the Clippers have also talked to the Magic and vice versa about dealing Bledsoe/Butler for Aaron Afflalo.
http://www.orlandopinstripedpost.com/2013/6/19/4446884/nba-trade-rumors-orlando-magic-los-angeles-clippers-eric-bledsoe-arron-afflalo

So, I wonder if this resolution would solve everything
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=k2sxd4t

Celts get- Jameer Nelson, Willie Green, Deandre Jordan, $11 million trade exception AND Orlando's #2 pick in this year's draft (Ben McLemore?) and Clippers future 1st rd pick.

Orlando gets - Rajon Rondo, Eric Bledsoe, Caron Butler's expiring and Celtics #16 pick in this year's draft.

Clippers get - KG, Jason Terry, Aaron Afflalo, Andrew Nicholson and future 2nd round draft pick from Celtics.

Yes, I know Rondo gets dealt (I can only hear teeth grinding right now.)

BUT keep in mind, it's still a mystery how he'll recover from ACL surgery and maybe Orlando is still wiling to take a chance on his name value. Also, I've got to think Orlando would be tempted with the idea of a possible Rondo/Bledsoe backcourt (maybe Bledsoe plays the 2.)

For the Celts, they get a true PG in Nelson, a couple young pieces in Willie Green and Jordan, this year's #2 overall pick and a 11 million TE which they can then possibly use to go after either Josh Smith, Paul Millsap or Al Jefferson, in a sign and trade.

Yuck, stay far away from Jameer.  Rondo for the #2 in a weak draft for high end talent?

Yikes

Why in the world would the Celtics be interested in trading Rondo for Jameer freaking Nelson?

"MAYBE Orlando takes a CHANCE on his name value"? Let me tell you something, it's a 100% GUARANTEE Orlando will take this rip-off of a trade straight to the bank laughing all the way.

Jameer Nelson career average -
12.6 ppg, 5.2 apg and 3.1 rpg
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2439/jameer-nelson

Rajon Rondo -
11.1 ppg, 8.3 apg and 4.5 rpg
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/3026/rajon-rondo

Looks like Rondo gets more assists and rebounds but Nelson has a higher scoring average. AND the Celts get a high draft pick and a big trade exception.

AND Rondo might not even be 100 percent for the beginning of the season.

So........I guess I fail to see where this trade is such a rip-off for the Celtics.

Jameer Nelson is one washed up dude. You remember him complaining that Bradley was guarding him too much?

Stats don't tell it all. Poll all 30 GMs in the NBA and not one of them will want Nelson over Rondo, despite similar stats.

Also, it doesn't matter if Rondo isn't 100% for the start of the season. Barring a truly impressive offseason from Danny Ainge, we're not in position to compete next season, so it'd actually be in our best interests to be cautious and make sure Rondo takes as long as it takes for him to come back 100% healthy.

Nelson scores 1.5 more points than Rondo. But Rondo gives his team 6 more points and one more possession.

Plus I'd rather have Rondo to pass to Jordan than Nelson. Nelson could look like he actually earns his money with Rondo passing to him.

Oh, you really think that Nelson and Rondo are fairly comparable? I thought that you were swapping Rajon for Jameer in an attempt to get a high draft pick.

So which guy shot 39.2% (49.8% TS) last season and which guy shot 48.4% (51.4% TS)?

No. I mention in my original trade idea that the Celts would also receive Orlando's first round pick for THIS year.

I like the creativity of the deal, but I think we are getting too little in return.  I am very open to trading Rondo, but if that is all he can get you've got to hold on to him.
