Many on here are lambasting Ainge for not taking the deal, taking the deal, considering the deal... Many have also commented on our lack of leverage in the situation giving the Clippers the ability to leave Bledsoe and/or cap relief off of the table. Chris Paul has just given us that leverage back. We shall now see what Ainge is truly made of at the Poker Table. Danny doesn't have to make this happen. Many, including myself, have argued that it might be better to not have it go through letting Doc leave to the broadcasting booth (or join a different team) and cutting Pierce and likely having KG retire. That being said, if he feels this is best for the franchise he now has some leverage he didn't have. If CP3 leaves due to them not getting this deal done, they will immediately fall into shambles once again and to the cellar before too long. They'll never get anyone to seriously consider them again without a change in ownership. They would lose a chance at getting Howard as well.

If I am Danny I remind them of this and tell them I want the 2 picks, Jordan, and either Bledsoe or Butler in exchange for Terry's contract. That's it. Nothing less. Let them tick off CP3 and go to the cellar. We shall soon see what Danny is made of...

The one thing to consider is that Butler's deal is expiring.  That means he's only really worth salary cap relief.  It might actually be better to hang onto JET and Lee so they can be packaged with picks and a key piece (like Rondo) in a future deal.

Agree with that, however that is why I said Terry and not Lee. I use Lee (or Bass if the other team prefers) in the trade package with Rondo. I am not down on Terry as I didn't think that he was as bad as everyone thought. He wasn't as productive as I had hoped, but I didn't think that was high on our list of issues. I just think he has no role on a completely rebuilding team and so would be best for both parties to go. The Clips could actually use the guy coming off the bench and so it might make them more likely to do this. TP to you.

100% agree with the OP -

Clipper should jump all over the following deal:

Jordan, Bledsoe, Butler and a 1st
for
KG, Terry & Doc

Clippers:

KG / Free agent Center / Chris Wilcox
Blake Griffin / Odom
Pierce / Barnes
Reddick? / Jamaal Crawford / Willie Green
Chris Paul / Jason Terry

You know if KG and Doc go the Clippers they are getting Pierce too.

Also, KG, Pierce, Terry and Doc will do far more to helping the clippers win a ring than Jordan or Bledsoe ever will.

Jordan's contract is up in two years, they can sign some else when KG comes off.

With Chris Paul on book, there is also know way they can spend the money they will need to to re-sign Bledsoe either.

So they win rings now and reload in two years when KG and Pierce come off.

Celtics:

Jordan / Dieng / Melo
Josh Smith / Sullinger
Jeff Green / Butler
Avery Bradley / Courtney Lee / Draft pick?
Rondo / Bledsoe

Let the young guys develop and play for a year or two, flip a few of them for a a bigger star if needed.

I am assuming Josh Smith will find his way to Boston if we've reloaded like this and he "truly wants to play with Rondo.

Bass and one of our future firsts?

I dont' think we should get anything less than:

Jordan, Bledsoe and Butler
or
Jordan, Bledsoe and two firsts

I hope you are correct about the leverage, but I was not convinced by the latest article that calls CP3 the 'impetus' for getting the deal back on the table.  Rather than suggesting that Paul is threatening to leave if Doc isn't the coach, it inferred more that CP3 would be excited to play for Doc and with KG (but would also probably play for another coach too).  Not sure anything all that earth-shattering really happened that would be a big leverage boost to the C’s.
If Ainge has already put a Jordan plus 2 picks offer on the table then I suspect he is not going to pull that off and raise it.   Danny already played his hand and I doubt he’ll push back too hard for more if Clips agree to it now.

I have a feeling that if we get this team, Avery won't start ahead of Bledsoe or we will draft a SG.   He is a great defensive specialist but he is one trick pony.

Ainge pulled those huge trades back in 2007.

Now it's time to definitely prove his worth this summer.

Wow. Can you fill us all in on everything that went down please?! You must be in the room with them negotiating.  ::)

Clearly there is more to this deal than what the reports that every one of us can read off of ESPN or else it would already be done. That doesn't mean anything more than this is going to happen, or even this much will, but I would assume Danny is asking for more and they are trying to give this or less. None of us have ANY idea of what is taking place in these negotiations. If you think that the media knows the full story then I have some news for you...
