Golden State might be the logical trading partner for the C's. Jack and Landry just became free agents, Curry's big money contract kicked in, and they still have Biedrins on the book for his final year at a ridiculous $9 million a year.

What's a good way to turn that Biedrins contract into Jack and Landry's replacement without adding payroll?

GS gets Bass and Terry
Boston gets Biedrins and his expiring contract.

Thoughts?

Another Idea:

Bass, Terry, Lee and Crawford

for

Biedrins and Jefferson

I view this deal as a win/win as well.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
How much are Landry and Jack looking for in their next contracts? Would they rather just have those two over Bass and Terry or are they getting huge paydays? I know they both averaged double digits, but didn't think either was that sought after.

But, yes, this obviously helps clear space for Boston.

Jack they have Bird rights to, although they might not want the luxury tax hit, since they're already over even if he walks.  The most they can offer Landry is $4.8 mil, so even a team with the mid level could trump them if he just went to the highest bidder.

When KG was going to LA, one of my blow it up thoughts was Pierce and the China 3 for Biedrins, Jefferson, and some combination of Ezeli and picks.  That would save them over $16 mil next year if they waived everyone, and give them room to sign Jack, Landry if he wants to stay, an MLE, and maybe even a BAE if they want.  I still think it makes sense for Golden State, but less so for the Celtics if KG is staying.

Sure I'm in. Maybe they'll throw in an injured Festus.

Landry may be back but I don't see how Jack will. He played very well and some team who misses out on Paul is bound to throw a sizeable contract at him.
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

If Golden-State is interested then It'd be a nice rebuilding/tank move. I think it depends on how things work out for them with Landy and Jack.

I also was wondering if there is any chance they'd be interested in trading for KG and PP as a package. KG was willing to consider going to LAC, well Golden-State isn't too far away. They can take on both KG and PP. Mark Jackson was a top 5 candidate for Coach of the Year. They have enough salary to send back to use to make it work. If KG is still up for playing with PP, maybe?

If he was just going to retire anyway we don't need much back in return. Maybe they'd be interested in moving Bogut given he is such an injury liability that could derail the young teams chances (I trust 37 year old Kg's health more than Bogut's).

Bogut, Biedrins and Jefferson for KG and PP. We could send them Terry or Lee as well to lessen the blow of losing Jack.

KG
Lee
Barnes
Thompson
Curry

With Pierce as your 6th man. Thats a scary lineup. If they can get Landry back too...

Its a serious longshot, but with our situation you have to think outside the box.
