Ok so we have established that the Oracle Arena isn't exactly "close" to Malibu, but its got to be close enough for KG to at least consider making the move. The 11m he will be making by playing another year instead of retiring can rent him a plenty nice house in the Bay area near the arena. KG can hang out at his Malibu place in his free time.
The real questions are:
Is that close enough and a good enough team for KG to waive his no trade clause?
And
Are the Clippers interested and at what price?
I think KG would probably be interested in the Warriors if we sent Pierce along with him. He'd probably be happy to play for Mark Jackson if Pierce comes along.
Golden State has enough bad contracts to move (Biedrins and Jefferson both expiring) to take on both. They're really high on Draymond Green, but they might be willing to move him along with Ezeli (out 6-9 months so they need front court depth) for 2 vets who can put them over the top.
I'm not sure about the pick though, especially after seeing how little the Clippers were willing to offer.
I'd be up for it though.
Oakland and Malibu are pretty much opposite ends of the pole in california. I don't think that you can assume that because it is a short plane ride from LA that KG would be willing to go to GS. The warriors are an up and coming fairly young team. Not sure if they would think that an aging KG is worth giving up any of their decent assets for.
I never said that I assume KG would be willing to go to GS because its near enough to Malibu. I said he would most likely at least
consider it.
Yeah I realize they are far apart. Its been established. They're about 6 hours apart driving minimum. The line of thinking is that if we are rebuilding KG doesn't want to stay in Boston. Assuming the LAC deal is dead, he can't go to LA. What is next closest thing? Golden State.
No he can't live in Malibu, but at 11m a year he can afford to find a place in the Bay area for during the season and as you pointed out its only a short plane ride to his preferred home near LA for when he has time off.
No one can say if its a possibility or not except for KG, so lets stop discussing geography and the actual deal.
Yeah Golden State is young, but they aren't too far off from being real title contenders, which they showed in these playoffs. WIth KG and PP I'd say they'd be one of the favorites in the West. They have Bogut and Lee already to keep KG fresh and Barnes to keep Pierce's minutes low.
Biedrins and Jefferson give them nothing at all. So to be able to turn those two into some old HOFs they'd probably give the deal a long hard look.
Ezeli and Green both looked pretty promising at times last year. Nothing special but they could both develop into solid role players (something a team like GS could really benefit from developing internally).
They'd probably be willing to give up picks more willingly since they assume they are going to be playoff bound the next few seasons. Since Ezeli is hurt maybe they are willing to move him too, but Green might be a stretch.
