Right now Danny has only one bidder.  Let the draft go by, let July 1st get here, and when Paul hits the open market, see if KG and/or Doc have more value to a team trying to land Paul or Howard.

Right now Houston or Dallas can't say, hey Chris, if we bring in KG and Doc would that get you to sign here.

Unfortunately KG's no trade clause puts DA in a tight corner.  All sources indicate KG will either play in Boston, play in LA, or retire.

I'm not desperate to land a stiff like DeAndre Jordan and some useless draft pick.

What's the worst case scenario here?  Danny backs out and Doc becomes a broadcaster?

So what?

KG can then either stick around in Boston and continue to mentor the young players on our lotto team... or he can retire.  It doesn't matter. We can still trade or waive Pierce if we want to.  I'd rather have KG next year than DeAndre both in terms of trying to win and in terms of continuing the culture of this franchise and transitioning the young players into the future.

People act like it's "DeAndre or nothing".  When given those choices, "nothing" doesn't sound that bad.

Come on Ainge ....don't be stupid and let Boston get rapped by a freakin Los Angles  team of Losers.

Why flush everything down the drain.

Hope the OWNERS have your neck in a sling for this

Why are you determined  to sink the Celtics into such an awful situation

Letting the Clippers boss you around when you DON't have to do anything , is plain stupid.......

Are you being bought off by the Clippers .....what is wrong ??

It depends on what you think the Celtics should do.  If you are one of those people who think the Celtics should tank for 2014, then your worst-case scenario might be the Celtics barely making the playoffs as the 8th seed and Rondo or Green gets injured in the playoffs and loses all trade value (since tanking advocate tend to want to get rid of those players).

I'd rather have nothing than DeAndre Jordon and a late 1st in this year's draft.  If Garnett comes back, which I think he will, I'll take another year of him mentoring Sully and Fab.

Maybe we still switch out Pierce for Josh Smith.  Not sure that makes us better but we'd still be pretty competitive.

The Heat might not run it back next year if they lose the finals.  Even if they do, they aren't bringing in anyone else and Wade is starting to look like he is going to have bad knees the rest of his career.

The Knicks are in about the worst possible cap space spot.  They aren't bringing in anyone else.

The Nets, ho hum.

The Pacers will probably lose a role player or two.  Granger probably goes and if he stays he will more than likely be injured.

Chicago could be the team to beat next year but Noah is breaking down, as is Deng, and they have some role players who might leave. Not to mention whatever is going on with Rose and his confidence in his knee.

Running it back might not be the worst thing in the world.

I love PP, KG and Doc - but hey, I'm a C's fan 1st - we have to blow this thing up NOW and get on with it.  No more playing for the 7th or 8th seed man!  You're either in it to win the championship or you're not - and this team clearly is NOT.

Danny himself needs to go. Looks what he's turning the team into sh...t. I am sure he is losing totally the control of situation. He is sending out the coach 2 great important players for Cs, KG+PP and probably Bass and JET. He is trying to make other mistake maybe new version of Detroit Piston. He is jumping from disaster of  financial money management, to roster disaster. If he would not sing bog money contract for old players like Pp and KG, he was not force now to make this new disaster. Urgently ownership has to stop DA. Unless somebody like to see the team to fight for the very bottom part of East Conference for next 5 years

Oh please.  You are sounding like a broken record.  We aren't firing DA.

it's a bad deal, it's not like they are creating futher cap space when offloading terry, cos kg has a 6 mill buyout that year, so any extra cap space we create by dumping terry is consume by the extra money we would have to pay deandre over a bought out kg

I am so glad you aren't the GM. You really have ZERO idea what you are talking about. It's hilarious. This is the same guy who got us KG and Ray Allen for a collection of assets. This is exactly what he's tying to do now. It's rebuild time and Doc wants to go. Why pay him 7 million when it's a rebuild? Doc is leaving either way. If he leaves, KG retires. Why not get something for both of them if they are gone anyway? You're opinion is so Marie minded and you aren't educated on how the salary cap works or how a basketball team makes money.
The Celtics are one of those most profitable teams in the NBA lol.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

The problem is that we really can't afford to wait until after July 1st to figure out who are next coach is going to be.  At that point, all of the decent candidates will be gone.
