Update:

recent rumors say we are not going for an extra draft pick or bledsoe , just want financial flexability .

Bos sends: KG, Doc, Terry, Bass
Lac sends: Jordan , Butler(expiring), 1st rd pick

This has to be the deal ....

Sure fire tank job IMO

If the trade goes through , it seems pretty apparent that we aren't a playoff team, especially if Rondo and Sully need to take their time to get back to full health.

Why not just sit them both until January ,and pile up the losses early in the season?

Get a good lottery pick , and then deal it with Jordans expiring contract and other assets for a big name player(Aldridge,Love,Marc Gasol could all be free agents in 2015, so could become available)

Me thinks it's Tank time....

Definitely not for 2 reasons:

1. Rondo is too strong-willed to manipulate like that.
2. No Rondo would be bad for development of younger players.

The truth is, Rondo might not be ready early on, or at least might not be that great.

I'd imagine they'll bring him on a little slower than they would if they were serious about contending this year, but they're not going to hold him out if he's fully healthy.

We played Pierce big minutes when we stunk - we'll do the same with Rondo.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

It sounds like Rondo is expected back in November.

So I don't think they will be able to keep him out for all that long.

WE might not even need to ask him to sit out...  Rose didn't come back at all last year and his team was a contender.

Definitely let ROndo sit.  Smart move.  Wiggins or bust.  Nothing to gain from winning 35 games.

If KG and PP are gone, that's the best thing to do. Keep Rondo off the floor ala Rose until the All Star Weekend, then bring him back to get in shape. Cut Sully's minutes also. We'll need their minutes to showcase our rookies/expiring contracts before the trade deadline.

Tanking is not the main goal, it's more about developing assets and keeping roster flexibility to make a big splash in 2014 or 2015. A good pick in 2014 won't hurt, but I wouldn't trust ping pong balls a lot, more like another asset to build/trade.

Without 4 of our starters, we'll stink so much we won't need to tank... add Vinnie Del Negro and we're set for an interesting season.
