The center of all this drama is Doc wanting out.
Then, the idea of trading Doc.
Then, the KG for DeAndre Jordan deal.
Then Vinny Del Negro???
What's real? What's not?The core of it all, Doc wanting out is 99% legit.
There aren't reports on KG saying anything on the matter yet. Perhaps he might even be the one jamming the gears. This all might be speculation. Don't forget, no trade clause!
MAYBE WE WON'T TRADE KG AFTER ALL!
But with all the reports...I'm torn.
As for the VDN part, fortunately, it's died down since. This may be more speculation. I'm thinking no. Hoping no. George Karl or Jerry Sloan are available. Like Jeff Clark said, we can get an "up and coming" coach.
My Best/Worst case scenarioBEST case scenario:We "trade" Doc for an asset, maybe even move Bass to the Clips with Doc so Doc has someone he knows. With said assets and our bits and pieces, shoot for Gortat/Al Jefferson/Millsap.
George Karl or Sloan replace him. We essentially get assets for free since Doc wants to leave anyway.
Would the Clips do this? Maybe. Doc developed Rondo. He's certainly battle tested. They get to change their culture without giving up anybody.
WORST case scenario:We get DeAndre for KG and Doc. We get VDN.
I'd like to see KG retire in green.
But, like the Perk trade, the "worst" part is not the main part (the fact that it's a bad trade now is debatable), it's the stuff on the side that, in my opinion, is really going to be a mistake.
The winning culture KG brought to the C's will be flushed down by VDN. We'll tank for sure. Best chance at 4th pick in next year's draft.
THIS. THIS is how you become the Bobcats. You actively get worse. You taint your assets. Young, malleable minds like Sully, Green and AB ruined by VDN. We'd be set back 5 years.
Get assets, new era, sure. But WHY would Ainge get Del Negro?
