I would love to just do the Doc for one or two firsts part of the trade.

Get that part done and out of the way before the Clippers hire a different coach. It would be a shame to miss out on free draft picks (first rounders).

I agree, but don't you think that this would result in the immediate retirement of KG (and possibly PP)? I can't see them coming back to play for a Celtics team that will essentially be coached by Rajon Rondo.

I think they both come back.

I don't believe KG when he says he will only play for Doc. I reckon it is just one of those over the top things KG says when discussing the people on his own team. Expressing his loyalty and admiration for Doc with his words rather than literally meaning he will retire if Doc isn't his coach.

I think Pierce would happily play for anyone. I don't think he is the type of man who would let his own career be decided by the decision of another person / player (or even lesser, a coach) to leave. I think Pierce would play for any coach and any playoff team or even a non-playoff team if he got to stay in Boston.

Anyway, that is just my impression of things. It's not something that I am personally worried about. I expect both of them (if not traded) regardless of whether Doc Rivers is here or not.

You're probably right.

But wait, I just had the best thought ever-- let Doc walk for picks and promote KG to player-coach, with Rondo as his de facto assistant coach.

I don't care if we're not a top 5 team, I'd much rather watch a KG/Rondo-coached team battle in the playoffs than tank and pray for ping pong balls to bounce our way.

yes.....this would be good.....the we could get a better coach or at least a one that appreciates where he is at and isn't two faced

but, you know Doc is chicken pellets ....won't move unless its all stacked in HIS favor..he won't want to go if he doesn't steal thenCeltics blind in the process......the jerk......why doesn't he just leave instead of trying dismantle the Celtics with under the radar back door dealings.  That's not his job, unless he working full time as a Clippers hack.

They want Rivers,  Imsay good riddance ......rather see him suffer on the Magic though. :D

Doc Rivers been informed Clippers won't accept Celtics offer. Rivers prepared to stay in Boston, sources.
