Thought that was a little high.

If the Clippers were willing to accept the deal Danny Ainge is looking for, would you be OK with the Celtics dealing Doc Rivers, KG and Paul Pierce to LA?

I dunno, makes sense to me. The everyday fair weather fan is ready for some younger more exciting celtics basketball where as the diehards know the Garnett's, pierces, and Terry's of the world are what win championships.

I am a diehard Celtics fan. We are not winning another NBA championship with KG and Pierce. We either let them retire Celtics and get nothing in return for them, or we trade them and get pieces to rebuild quicker while Rondo is still in his prime.

Why is Pierce mentioned in their question? Do they assume that Danny will buy him out for 5M as a part of the deal, and then he will sign with Clips?

All reports I've seen, even Woj: KG+Doc for Jordan + picks + (Bledsoe)

It's a big difference IMO. If Danny can get Jordan, Bledsoe and pick for Doc+Kg and then get some more assets for PP I would be more than happy with this trade. If PP is part of the agreement then the deal doesn't look so great anymore. (especially if they take Bledsoe off the table)

you just nailed it ...... TV media LOVES big new /trades..... higher ratings, of course they will promote anything that MAKES headlines as fact.  The basic young teenie low information crowd is where their poll would come , not hard core long time Celtic fans.

we should sign Hollins as our coach, Keep KG and PP and let the slimy bloodsucking leech RIvers feed somewhere else .

i think the PP trade is a separate trade where it's more or less Pierce for Butler. Now, i'm a huge Pierce fan and would want him to retire as a Celtic, but honestly, if he wants to play one more year alongside KG and Doc, with a real legit chance to win a championship, then i'd do the deal. Butler is an expiring contract anyway.

Well we would get cap space. I'd say cap space is better than getting a $10mm mediocre center.

The best deal for BOTH teams:

BOS gets: Bledsoe, Jordan, Butler, '15 1st
LAC get: Doc, KG, Pierce, Terry, Lee

Fill in non-guaranteed contracts if the cap numbers don't add up (though not Shav!).

I think they don't want to bring PP via trade. Why pay him 15.3M when they could sign him for MLE (5M). If they traded for PP and KG they would have over 66M committed to only 4 players.
But if you are right then Clips have no arguments to keep Bledsoe. KG+PP+Doc for Jordan+Bledsoe+Butler+pick seems like a pretty good deal for them. Especially considering that move will mean CP3 staying in LA.

^Yeah, my trade was contingent on Pierce going to the LAC through waiving him and LAC getting him for the MLE.

If the majority of Celtics fans want a deal done, it's because it's heavily biased towards us. Clippers GM or any GM isn't stupid.

Excellent observation...

I think most fans are ready to move on from the Big 3 era after last year. The original rumored deal of Jordan, Bledsoe and picks is a good haul for KG and Doc (and possibly PP). We then have the option of keeping them or moving them for other assets and we send our vets off to make another run at a ring.

I think that percentage drops significantly if the terms change to be more equal/favorable to the Clippers. No Bledsoe and its probably under 50% (unless we get guaranteed lottery picks and move our salary clogs).

  Some GMs are pretty stupid.

As for the deal, it's a matter of priorities. How badly do the Clippers want to improve their title chances? Is keeping Bledsoe or is what they'll trade him for more important than having a stronger chance to win the title over the next couple of years?

Not particularly ok with deal at all.

If those are the best assets we can get, we're better off letting our guys expire and bring cap space.

Don't panic Danny.  Stay the course.  Move Bass, Terry, Lee for expiring contracts.

Jordan won't bring back much in assets, and Bledsoe is just not enough on his own.  Picks in the late 20's are bad news.  I'd rather have an early 2nd round pick unless I was targeting a specific player.
