I'm strongly opposed to it.

Yep
If we're rebuilding getting any assets at all for KG/Pierce is a coup.

I figured KG would retire and Pierce would be waived.

Huh. I would much prefer Pierce and Garnett retire Celtics, plus the eventual cap space.

Only actual stars win, overpaying second tier players is a trap. Add in the potential hire of a bottom three coach and I'm climbing the walls.

The cap space will still be there if they want it.

DeAndre Jordan is easily trade-able. So too will Eric Bledsoe.

Boston keeps it's cap flexibility and picks up some extra draft picks in the process.

This is how I see it. I'm all for this deal

Late 1st rounders. Not worthless, but also not clearly worth more than the chance to watch Pierce and KG retire Celtics. I don't miss J.R. Giddens and Jajuan Johnson.

Maybe if at least one of Jordan or Bledsoe were signed to a three or four year fair market deal I'd see the value. But expiring contracts aren't worth that much under the new CBA.

Plus even-odds that Rondo keeps the Celtics at a seventh or eighth seed, whereupon Ainge brings Pierce back for a short playoff run, aka his Antoine Walker play. (Never mind, I guess that could be fun.)

  • GOT IT!!!
I was all in for running it back. It seems most involved are ready to move on though. I think it's best for the organization to follow suit.

I'm all for it and I hope they pull the trigger sooner rather than later so we can make other adjustments to fully start our rebuild.

No way I do this deal.  Go to ESPN's trade machine and see how many teams you can trade Jordon straight up to for picks.  You get one year of Bledsoe and then someone will throw big money at him.

Several teams this year could be looking to sell their late first round pick.

Any word on the picks? I'm hoping for '14 and '16. Their pick this year is only #25 so it's worth the gamble you could get a better one in future years.

Jordan doesn't need to be moved this year, we can wait on the right deal to come up (we're in rebuild mode no rush).

And Bledsoe is extremely moveable as well Utah and Orlando have both already inquired about him.

Hate to see KG go but if we have to rebuild then this is the way to start. Plus he is 37 and might be his last year so get something than nothing
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

To me, this trade seems like a mildly funny joke taken way too far.
