Depends. If Pierce and KG are coming back then sure. If we are rebuilding then no. Doc Rivers clearly can't coach effectively in that situation. He's never gotten the best of his young players for the most part, and just doesn't understand development. He needs stars to keep him on top cause his coaching doesn't get him there.

Listen, before Tom Thibs came to Boston, Rivers was a lame duck coach. What changed? The Big Three came together and he ended up getting a good defensive coach. Rivers without the Big Three is no better than Spolestra in Miami. In fact I would probably have "Spo" than Doc for this team and that's me being honest. This team does not need a good head coach, we need someone who can lead this team to tank and tank hard. He obviously isn't on board to do the right thing so show him the door and get someone else in here that will focus more on playing uptempo, exciting basketball the likes we haven't seen since the 06-07 team. If they had kept that team together then maybe we would have added a high pick or two and all of those players would be reaching their primes.

Trading Big Al wasn't a good move as we're now stuck with a team that we sold the future for 5 years of being "The Celtics" again. The team now more than ever needs a young exciting, explosive player like Wiggins. Wiggins talent and the talent in the 2014 draft is worth the tank job. As you can get a franchise player in the top 5. You cannot win in the NBA without a top player, period.

Also Rivers could be used to dump some terrible contracts on the Clippers. Such as Bass, Lee, Terry, Crawford and Pierce. That could be used as compensation as a few of those guys could go for Jordan's crap contract but at least he's young, athletic and big.

Not to mention that the drama with Rivers is just getting plain old. He was an average at best coach before Thibs and never made adjustments in games. Get rid of him Danny and do whats right. BLOW IT UP!

If you thought a lineup of Telfair-Szczerbiak-Pierce-Jefferson-Perkins was going to win anything, then I don't even want to talk. Its better to have 5 years of amazingness and then 2 years of decency/improvement time than 7 years of mediocrity/1st round exit.

As for Wiggins, I still remember how we all tanked for Durant. What happened? I don't remember getting a top 3 pick...

Oh and if you think Spoelstra would do an equal job with the Celtics that Doc did, I don't even know what to say. You failed to realize Doc's off-court contributions. He is the reason the team became a "brother-hood." Players respect him. Not just players on this team, but players all around. People want to play for Doc. He is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, motivation for many players to come to Boston. If Spoelstra was coaching, the KG would have exited this league long ago because he would be overplayed, Pierce would lose his legs due to 48 minutes a game and become capable of nothing more than a catch-and-shoot player and Rondo would not have developed into what he has today.

No, I do not want Doc to coach us if his heart is not into it.   He knows the tank mode will be on.   I like him as a person and as a come from behind coach but I hate SMALL BALL!  I also do not care for his rotations.

You do realize that Doc was the coach in 06-07, right? According to you, he must've done a pretty good job since he was able to lead that team to tank while remaining "uptempo and exciting" to watch.

I look at it like this:  it's inevitable that Danny is going to blow it up.  KG and Pierce are basically out the door, and will be playing elsewhere.

That being the case, I'd like to see Doc move on to LA.  I think there's a very good chance that KG and Pierce would join him there, and I'd have a chance to actually root for a team to win next year.

Doc stays = Boston has a strong head coach who can be here for years to come
Doc leaves = there are several quality candidates out there to replace him.

Either way, Boston will have a very strong head coach. Not something I am concerned about. Take care of the playing staff. The coaching staff will be in very good shape regardless of what Doc chooses to do.

I want Ainge to concentrate on the players. That will be the hard part of things.
