Without PP and KG this team would be fighting for bottom part of Esat Finals togeter with Pistons, Raptors, Wizards etc. The only thing where disagree is the high salary that DA is offering them.

Huh? You mean you disagree with the contracts Sully/Bradley/Rondo and Green have? Or the contracts KG/PP have?

Shocked and angry.

If the rest of the team was good enough to sneak in, then who knows how much better they could have been if they had kept KG and Pierce.

Now if KG retires, no reason to be angry with the team.

But if they waive Pierce for cap space, a real reason to be angry.

I'd be like "lol, nice, Jeff Green really is an All-Star... just as I expected"

The Raptors were tied for the most wins in the East by a non-playoff team.  So, if the Celtics are capable of doing a bit better than the Raptors, then arguably they have a shot at the playoffs.

I happen to be one who thinks we'll be fine, eventually, without KG and PP. I think we could make the 8th spot and I'd be fairly proud. I feel like that'd be 'overachieving' and you build up some young talent. I thought that was the process of rebuilding?
And then you get to draft a pretty solid guy. What's not to like?
I would've actually rather not been in the playoffs THIS year due to total embarrassment with HOFers...so that's just me.

Tanking is the dumbest thing any team especially the Celtics can do..

What we should do is try to do as well as we can this season, while stockpiling assets, and build up trade values in Bass/Terry/Lee.

If Green explodes as an Allstar, and manages to score 20+ PPG, with at least 5.0 RPG, any team wanting a superior SF needing to compete will value him highly. Not to mention his contract is very accessible, and feasible.

I seriously don't like the idea of tanking. Stock pile assets, and ride out this year. At this point at least we'll have a good young nucleus to run ahead with, and only Terry after next year will be the oldest player.

If that happened... I'd feel like the sky was falling.  That team wins 25-38 wins on paper.  If we're making the playoffs it's one of those whacked out years where a sub .500 team makes the playoffs in the East.

We should make the playoffs every year.  We're the Celtics.

I do like what Rondo/Green/Sully could do as a core, since they might go well together with some size and defense at the 2 and 5 spots (Dalembert?).  Bradley/Lee and KG/Mystery Man fill that role.

I don't believe in losing because it impacts the culture of the franchise.  The players, fans, and everyone else need to be focused on winning.

I'd be impressed actually.  The training wheels would be off for this roster and they'd have to make it on their own.  would hope some other changes would be in store like moving JET off the roster somehow

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I'd be extremely excited. That means that a Bradley, Green, Rondo, and Sully all continued to improve, becoming a good enough group to lead that team to the playoffs.

After that year we would have a pick similarly high to what we have this year which could probably help us. More importantly we would have cap space to add someone to that young core. We would be a team trending upwards with desirable pieces.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

By "whacked out years", you mean 6 out of the last 8 seasons?  I'd guess a 37-38 win team has at least a 25% chance of making the playoffs next season.

i strongly dislike this kind of thinking. revisionist, at best
you ever think that KG and PP are holding some players back -- or at least the offense based around them isn't conducive for others?
Just like you say why couldn't we do this with PP, I can say, why didn't we get rid of him earlier?
