Again very much inspired by the deal that got us Coutney Lee. Memphis signs Allen to a mid level size contract (lets say 16 million for 3 years) and trades it to us for the unguaranteed deals of TWill, DJWhite, Shavlik Randolph, our 2nd round pick from next year`s draft and one of either Fab Melo, Jordan Crawford, or our No. 16 from this year`s draft

I'm a big Tony Allen fan, but I don't think I'd bother.  If we are rebuilding Tony wouldn't be a part of that.  And that's a lot of money you are suggesting.

The only thing the deal that got us Courtney Lee inspires me to do is save our money.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
What IS the INFATUATION with Tony Allen?

Great defender? Check.
Can't score. Check.
Terrible mid range jumper. Check.
Handles mediocre. Check.
Wants a huge contract despite his injuries and his age. Check.
A lock down defender, that basically has no offensive game besides driving to the lane. Check.
We have a younger player who has had more success than Tony Allen in terms of shooting. Check.
His name is Avery Bradley. Check.
Everyone loves to overrate Tony Allen, despite the fact Bradley is 22, could've been Defensive All First Team, and has a large ceiling than Tony Allen ever did. Check.

No thanks....much more fun to root for when he's not dribbling the ball off his foot for you're team.

getting back players you originally let go usually doesn`t work ..

but the main question is .. why would memphis do this ?

approximately 3-4 million in cap savings plus the extra draft picks, then again they could just let allen walk
Ruto Must Go!

what is the purpose of this trade for Boston?  To stay as a just in or mediocre at best playoff team.  No thanks.

Because we totally need more guards.
Jeff Green - Top 5 SF

Bradley is worthless can can't guard anyone, NOT!

I would like to have a SG that can shoot however, that leaves out Tony Allen and Bradley.

I think the Celtics should be committed to starting Avery Bradley next season.

A SG/SF three-and-D guy off the bench for the minimum would be useful behind Bradley.

I have faith on bradley being a decent shooter.  He needs to pace himself on defense.  He dies too much and he's drain on offense.
TA can't shoot.  Remember we need to put the ball in the basket to win games.
Call me extreme but since we already have avery, I prefer datome over allen. He's what we need and he costs us peanuts.
