The quickest way back to the best(yeah its a long shot)

Ok this is pretty obvious, but I think could lead to some good discussion. There are only 2 guys we could get in the next 3 years that would instantly put us back on top: LBJ and Durrant. Obviously its a long shot, nd obviously every team has some sort of plan or idea how they could try for them if and when there is a chance. So what is ours?

If/when these guys want to make a move we do have certain advantages over other teams: ~We have Rondo, what better PG could you ask for if you are capable of coring 30 a night?
~We are a big market
~Boston is a good place to play. No one talks smack on it like they used to in the Carr-Pitino days. We've got the winning culture back and even when guys leave they say good things.

So I'm no cap wiz, but if we end up with LBJ or KD down the road, how does it happen? What is in Ainge's secret folder market "best case scenario"?

I'd like to answer/comment the thread starter without making fun...yes you are correct - IF either one of those were to happen, Yes the C's chances would go up dramatically.

But we all know the odds are almost nil.

What has us all pulling our hair out is "what in the world can DA do to fix this thing real soon?"

I have no idea.  Looks pretty bleak to me.  If they had PP and Rondo and KG and a max contract superstar.....maybe.  But it sure looks like they ain't happenin'.

the reason the Celtics are struggling right now is ...well I hate to say this but it is greed. Why are we paying PP and KG so much money when they are way past their primes. There is  no other team in the league that will pay this much.

Believe it or not this may be why Ray left because of the BIG 3 he was offered just 3-6 million a year. He must have thought about the burden the other two put on the team's ability to get what it needed to win.

If KG and PP really want to win, with all the money they have already made in this league, they should have taken less money to go get big time free agents to complement the team.

Pierce and KG want to get paid something close to fair value not just for themselves but for all of the other players.

Could LeBron play for a veteran minimum contract and still be fabulously wealthy?  Of course.  But that's not how the NBA works.

If a superstar chose to basically play for free, that has a negative affect on all of his teammates and peers who are fighting hard just to make it in the league and get their money in the first place.

Greed isn't part of it at all.

what a superstar takes to make his team better has no effect on the value of other stars that do not want to take less, but that is not the point I am making anyway.

The point I am making is that the KG PP contracts are overpriced. Why do they make that much more than Ray?

LeBron? I think he has a great deal of respect for the Celtics. Thats why I never "disliked him" as much as most around here.

Well isn't it wonderful that we believe in free speech in this country?  You can say anything you want and the government can't do a thing about it.

I should not be disappointed that the OP did not have a deal to propose. I should not be disappointed that getting the best player on the planet who is in the process of winning "multiple" championships is not coming here.  No, I should just be glad that we live in such a wonderful country that allows any sort of thinking without repercussion.

Well, the quickest way back would be to sign Greg Oden to the bi-annual and for him to actually stay healthy. Oh, and bring back Pierce and KG.
