I do think it partly depends on the player.  There are players out there who might prefer the atmosphere in Boston, both with the history, and the pace of the city, over a place like San Antonio. 

The other thing about San Antonio is that even though they have a stable organization and a great coach, they are also kind of like the Patriots of the NBA.  They basically play moneyball.  They are not player friendly.  Doc is a much more player friendly coach.

Right, exactly.  Just like in the NFL, there are Belichick guys, and then there are guys who would never want to play for him.

For example, lets say Deron Williams has to choose between playing for Pop or Doc...I get the feeling he would choose Doc.  Shane Battier would probably love to play for Pop.

Just because there are no San Antonio based teams doesn't mean there's no competition. The Cowboys, Longhorns, and Rangers, as well as the Houston teams (not as much) are all still very popular down here.
