I just thought of this for some off-season moves

Trade Randolph and White to the Mavs for the 13th pick.

Trade Bass and the 16th pick to the Cavs for Varejeo.

Draft Shabazz at 13 and go from there.

What do you think? Cavs get Noel number 1. I believe they have another pick so they could have 3 1st rounders to play around with, while getting rid of Andy. Bass is a vet they could use off the bench or start if they were to make a deal with all of those picks.

Boston gets to keep a first round pick and get a much needed scorer in Shabazz. Get Varejeo to play the 5 and we have our selves a nice set up to go with from there.

We could keep Pierce and make a run next year or move him for parts and still compete without him. Me i would wanna keep Paul as a 6th man.

Rondo/T-will/Jet
AB/Jet/Shabazz
Green/Pierce/Shabazz
KG/Sully/Green
Varejeo/KG/Sully

Well what do you think for a late night idea?

I think it's a way too late to be up and functioning idea. The mavs won't just hand is there 13th pick for a duo of scrubs. The Andy trade seems doable but I might lack sleep 2.

Well only reason Dallas would do it if they get desperate for cap space and they can cut those two and even if we sent T-will there that is 3 million in cap space if they cut the 3 of them.

The Mavs would probably ask for a future first.  They also have the option of drafting someone who may not come over right away like Saric and keep their cap room.  Worst case scenario they would trade the first for a couple of high second round picks.

The Mav's didn't make the playoffs last season - they pretty much sucked.  That means they are even closer than us to being in rebuild mode.

I don't get why they would give up a top 15 pick (when pickes are so highly valued by young teams) in return for two guys who combined to average about 5 minutes per game last season.

I also don't get why Cleveland would give up AV, one of the better bigs in the league, in return for a not-very-productive big man who isn't big and has minimal potential (Bass) and a low pick  middle ground first round pick.  I've little doubt that Cleveland could get a much better offer elsewhere...Bass on his own is really not worth much as trade bait.

Besides, I'm not sure that AV is really the right player for this team.  He's not much of a scorer and the last thing we need is injury prone big men...if we are going to take that route we may as well trade for Amare, who is a far better fit on a team like ours that is desperately lacking scoring

The Mavs have Dirk and very few other players under contract.  They will be major players in free agency this summer and can get to two max contract offers if they clear a bit more room.  Imagine if they get Paul and Howard to join Dirk.  They go from out of the playoffs to a clear title contender virtually overnight.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Neither trade looks realistic to me.

No reason in the world for Dallas to give up a lottery pick for a pair of borderline players on minimal non-guaranteed contracts. Nowhere near enough value for them. Dallas would need a future first in a somewhat similar area of the draft to make it worthwhile for them. Late lotto to mid first rounder.

Cleveland was asking for DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe for Anderson Varejao prior to the trade deadline. They are not settling for Bass and the #16 pick in a weak draft. Varejao's value hasn't fallen that much in such a short period of time. Another pick (a 2nd first round pick) on top of Bass might be enough for Cleveland to think about it.

Even if this is Dallas' plan and even if they manage to pull it off ...

... Dallas won't trade off their pick for scraps until they get a commitment for both Howard and CP3. There is no reason to do so prior that. Moving that pick will be simple to do during free agency given how many teams have cap space.

And even then, Dallas will still likely a first round pick back in return because there will be enough teams looking to acquire that pick from Dallas for Dallas to get some value out of it.

Dallas can't even talk to Paul and Howard until after the draft so trying to get a commitment before the draft is impossible.

Exactly. So there is no point in Dallas trading the pick prior to or during the draft. They will make the pick and choose the player they want. Then trade the player if necessary after free agency opens if Dwight + CP3 agree to sign with Dallas.

There is no need to do so prior to free agency. They will be able to move the player/pick just as easily once free agency opens and don't need to risk giving up a talented young player for the highly unlikely possibility of landing Dwight Howard and Chris Paul.

If you acquire a young talented big and add him to the deal.

I think Dallas will resign Mayo(will help them lure FAs and is an insurance if they dont get big FA Wiht Nowitzki22/marrion9/Mayo14?/cunningham+crawder2 theywill have commited something like 47 mio.If they have a chance at howard they will look to get rid of marrions money to sign him and if not i think they will have minor signings to prepare for 2014 free agency whenn marrions contact expires and dirk takes his massive paycut.

Even though i think most will not like it

pierce for marrion/#13 could make a lot of sense for both teams
