  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
1) Reggie Evans. Okay he may be old, but if there is only one good thing he's good at is grabbing rebounds. Did anyone remember when he grabbed 26 rebounds? Then scored 22 points in the same game against the Nuggets?

2) Kyle Korver. Definitely someone we could use to create spacing and fire that deadly 3 pointer. Pretty sure the Hawks would look to grab someone like Lee as a good defensive stopper.

3) OJ Mayo. Can play the point, set up plays, and is a dominant scorer. At some point he was the only legit scorer on the Mavs, and can demonstrate pure scoring ability. Isn't a liability on defense either.

4) Greg Oden. I don't care if he has a injury history. If we can grab him for 2-4 million then you have to pull the trigger. At best we get rid of 2 china men for roster space, and then sign him. If he pans out, then we have a good Center who can at least bring in 7.0 RPG and 10.00 RPG. Plus it'll give KG some time off the court, and needed rest.

My ideal candidates in a perfect world would be for us to trade Bradley for Evans. Trade Lee for Korver or Mayo, and sign Greg Oden.

I don't know I'm just ranting, I don't even know if any of this is possible.

But Evans can fill the offensive/defensive rebounding, Oden is a low risk high reward type of player.

I'd like to keep Lee simply because he still has time to prove himself. He is also entering his prime, and has lock down defense. If we can tap into setting up plays for him to hit the 3, I don't see the 3pt issue staying any longer.

I'd take Evans, Korver and Mayo. Pass on Oden.

LeBron is a dominant scorer, OJ is a very good scorer. And having watched him in Memphis, he really can't play point, he's like a worse version of Ben Gordon when he plays the 1.

Well he certainly is no Lebron, but OJ can score. And I didn't mean put him as a PG, but worst case if injuries burden us, I can see him at least setting up a couple plays without turning the ball over.

I'm with you on Korver and Evans - mainly because I've been campaigning for them too. I would bank on Evans for 22 points in a month let alone one game, but both have stuck in the NBA whilst only doing one thing well because of how good they are at that one thing. Korver is a frightening three point shooter who would wreak havoc playing with Rondo.

I remember it like I remember the game where Manute Bol made six three-point shots.

Reggie Evans is good at two things.  Rebounds and flopping.  And his rebounding is a bit inflated because teams basically ignore him when his team is on offense.  He can't pass.  He can't dribble.  He has hands of stone that would make you wish for the days of Shelden Williams.  He's useless on offense and allows opposing teams to play off of him.  He's not a good defender and will get destroyed by anyone he has to guard in the post, as you might expect from an unathletic 6'8" power forward.  He does hustle and can occasionally provide decent defense by being a pest.

He's acceptable as minimum-salary energy guy off the bench, but I'd hate to have to rely on him.

He isn't even getting paid more than Bradley. I think his contract might even be lower.

The point is Evans has heart. He hustles hard, and goes for the rebound. He may not be offensively sound, but for 10-15 minutes of straight rebounding, it'll definitely give us at least 5 second chance points.

You're telling me for the price of 2 China men you wouldn't pick up Evans? I'd slot him in as the 3rd or 2nd PF for 10-15 minutes to help grab rebounds. Our main struggles have been rebounding/shooting/scoring.

Reggie Evans would be cheap, and worth it.

must be me but if I was putting a list together of 4 players we should get on this team it'd consist of 4 great players and not 4 players that would see limited minutes (if any)

Because there isn't a thing called a salary cap?

The point of these players are to fill a need. Also all of them have started for their teams for more than limited minutes.

He's the sort of player who gets overrated by fans because he hustles.  He sacrifices offense and defense so he can pad his rebounding stats.  If he were a Celtic, he wouldn't be good enough to take minutes away from Brandon Bass.

would have been a good idea to include that perspective in your initial proposal.

no way you're getting OJ for what we have available under the cap.  Evans is a vet min player at this point.  Oden wants $ to join a team he probably won't play for no matter how much he rehabs.  Korver is a shooter but not much else.

if your goal is rounding out the roster, I still think we'd need better players, salary cap or not.

I'd want to keep Sully too, since he'd be pretty awesome next to Noah.
