The Knicks did a very smart thing by signing Kidd and Camby to long term deals if they become instant cap relief for any trading partner when they finally retire.

I think it depends on when Jason Kidd files his retirement paperwork with the league office.  Prior to that, he can be traded.  Afterwards, he can not.

still need them to file the actual paperwork to get the $ off the books.  I don't see Camby as that kind of 'generous' soul.

And the Over-36 rule comes into effect i think...

I can't epxplain it totally but it spreads the $$ remaining for a guy over 36 against the cap.
