Could be broaden this to Fab and Terry for Mahinmi and Hansbrough??  We could give them a future second rounder??

If anyone at Indiana looked at this deal, (s)he would get fired. On the spot.

Seriously, Terry for Ian???  How is that a bad trade???

Indy is in dire need of offense off the bench.  Jet can provide that.  He can also probably run the pick and roll better than Hill.

A young, solid big man - a rare commodity - on a decent contract locked down for multiple years

for

An undersized shooting guard on the back end of his career who has struggled all of last year.

Guards are a dime a dozen. Above average guards are slightly less common but still. I wish.

Hibbert has never played more than 30mpg in the regular season.  The team will be reluctant to part with Mahinmi unless they have a solid replacement as a back-up center.  If the Pacers trade Mahinmi for a guard who can provide offense, they are going to want a young player who can be or has the potential to be a long-term starter for the team.

To answer your question, it's a bad trade for Indy mainly because of age and money.

I'd do it in a second.  Indiana wouldn't however.

It's a bad trade because (minus tha money) they will lose what has been a decent back-up for Hibbert for an aging player that will provide only a temporary fix (which Pacers would prefer be long term) if Terry provides anything at all.

If were in rebuild mode maybe.  If we are in win now mode, no.

We desperately need somebody who can spend legit minutes at PG (which Terry can) and a legic clutch playoffs scorer (which Terry is).

They are in dire need of offense off of the bench and Terry could provide that but they could probably get that and more if they are moving Mahinmi.

They just re-upped him this offseason and he has looked really solid all season, not to mention he is on a really good contract and can learn from Hibbert who has a similar style. The kid hasn't even reached his potential yet so why trade him for an old SG coming off of a  poor season.

Plus they have Granger who, if healthy, could be that scoring punch off of the bench either at the 2 or the 3 that they need. And if they decide they don't want the drama of keeping Granger behind George then they can move him (again if healthy) to a team looking to take a chance and willing to give up some solid bench options.

It'd work out for the Celtics, but the Pacers have better trade options and partners so I don't think its even a possibility.

This. However they drafted Plumlee last year and could maybe draft another big this year and Granger could come back from injury and either help down low or be traded for someone that can help. I see this trade as a possibility and something they might be able to afford.

Mahinmi had a 2.72 Efficiency Rating for the playoffs and Terry was a +11.00!!!!!

P.S. This is NOT as lopsided as many think.  In fact, it might be lopsided against us:-))))

Haha yeah I'm finding it pretty hilarious that some even think that Mahini is an *average* big. He's pretty terrible.

I'd probably just stick with Shav, probably get very similar production
