Kyrie Irving
Dion Waiters
Tristan Thompson
Tyler Zeller
#1 pick - Nerlens Noel?
#19 Pick - Dieng?
Top 12 pick in 2014

Thats not a bad little crew to surround him.  Varajeo would probably stick around.  He would probably get Norris Cole to follow him a year later.

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
LeBron has three options:

1.  Stay in Miami, and hope Bosh grows into a second-best-player-on-a-contender role, and hope Riley can get some value for the artist formerly known as Dwyane Wade.

2.  Return to Cleveland and redeem yourself in what has to be one of the biggest sports stories ever (I mean, who would've thought LeBron would ever go back there after The Decision?).

3.  Go to LA and be the next great Laker (possibly next to Dwight).

The evil franchise on the left coast has their Cheshire Cat grin in place as they wait just one more year for enough cap space to do, as they always can, whatever they want with their money.
If Cleveland can get Lebron I am all for it.  I would like to see just 1 NBA generation with the Lakers struggling like every other franchise does.

I see all of these as realistic possibilities. I'm hoping for #2 (or an unmentioned fourth possibility: some team other than Cleveland, Miami, or the Lakers, though that's highly doubtful). Basically, I want him anywhere but Miami or the Lakers.

LeBron needs to go back to Cleveland if he wants a shot at a title in his 30s. An aging/injury prone Wade and Chris Bosh won't help him when he is at the peek of his prime.

He would have a great roster to back him up this time.

Nerlens Noel?/Zeller/Varejao
Tristan Thompson/Mareese Speights
LEBRON JAMES/Alonzo Gee
Dion Waiters/CJ Miles/Daniel Gibson
Kyrie Irving/Chris Quinn

not enough veterans on that team. You'd have to move zeller for a proven big, move waiters for a proven scorer.

add in a rejuvinated Greg Oden and whatever they get for sideshow bob.

Honestly if LeBron went back to Cleveland, who could really hate him for it?  That team couldn't build around him... so he goes on vacation in MIami for 4 years and comes back when they have a proper team for him.  It would be a great story.

What are the odds of Boston landing LeBron in 2014?

A lot of crazy things would need to happen next season for that to even be a possibility.

Tthe great situation they are in.  They could try to draft a scorer like McLemore at #1 and get Dieng at #19.  Or they could go Noel at #1 and hope Shabazz falls to #19.

Or they could get Noel and Dieng and wait until next year to draft a 3rd guard/scorer.  If Noel misses a good bit of the season, they will still be a lottery team in 2014.  They could draft Glen Rice.

Lebron cannot leave Miami unless it is to Cleveland.  His legacy would be destroyed if he jumped ship again to chase a title unless it was back home.

I don't think he opts out in 2014.  I think he rides out his contract in Miami through 2016 and then he returns home on a 3 year low money deal to retire a Cav and repair his reputation in his home state.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner
