I would love it if our Celtics drafted this man-child.  He has all of the physical tools and can block shots, rebound, and finish at the rim.

There are/were maturity issues in college but there are, IMO, no red flags.  Please remember that the situation in North Texas was not pretty but it will be a lot better in Boston.

When you’re picking at #16…you have to go for the gusto and not settle for some “chump juice”.

He is a home run in a draft full of bunt singles…that’s right, I said it.

I think he is more of an athlete than a basketball player, but maybe through hard work and coaching he takes that athleticism and becomes a basketball great basketball player.

I would have liked him to dominate more at North Texas.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I would like to think he would be a top notch energy guy / bench player, but he doesn't have the killer instincts to lead a team (even in college, apparently).  Kenneth Faried was a total beast in college, but I do see the comparison from a pro standpoint.   If he was in the right situation, he could be really deadly.

Someone says hes a slightly shorter Josh Smith. Don't know who said it, but I can sort of see it in his game, although the shot blocking is what separates the two from each other. The plus side if is he Josh Smith 2.0, at least his game will be more polished and diligent, considering his collegiate career.

I'd still root for Dieng at 16th. If we could get another pick in the first round, I'd draft Mitchell. Then Siva as a back up PG.

I dont think the Cs will draft Mitchel but I personally wouldnt be against it. He has the ideal physical profile for a 4/3. He is actually TALLER than josh smith. The following are there pre draft measurments. It is good to remember that Josh came right out of highschool for was likely 18 where Mitchel is 21.
Height W/O shoes, wingspan, weight, reach, vert
Mitchel    6'7.5"     , 7' 2.5" ,  236   , 8'10.5", 38"

Smith      6'7"       , 7'      ,  221   , 8'10.5", 39.5"

SMith has slightly better speed and agility numbers but that can just be testing ability.

I don't think Mitchell has the ballhandling and passing ability of Smith.

I think Mitchell's more like Tyrus Thomas.  Similar athleticism, fluidity, ballhandling skills; I'd say Thomas was a better shotblocker, Mitchell a better shooter.  Hopefully Mitchell's better in the character department.  Thomas had some injury issues that slipped him up but he also did't appear to be all that coachable or hardworking on the court.

He's a great athlete. I wouldn't make him my first choice if he was available when we're on tha clock but I wouldn't be opposed to selecting him if my man Dieng or Schroeder/MCW wasn't available.

Mitchell has talent tho. He has upside and room to improve his game. My only thing is his effort. If he can be more consistent and give a much better effort than what he has done in college, I would like to have him. But again I wouldn't make him my first choice. But then again I'm not tha brotha that has to make tha decision on who to draft.

He's a Tweener.

I don't like Tweener's, especially of the SF/PF variety.

He's got the size of an SF, but doesn't have the skills to play the position.

I don't know. If you can't dominate at North Texas I'm not sure I want to draft you

Sounds like an excellent late first round pick.

High level athlete with solid size and strong potential as a defender/rebounder with some concerns offensively. Might end up being a better in the NBA than in college when he can concentrate on being a role player / glue guy.

I'd definitely take him in the 20s. Happily. Not sure about #16. I supposed I'd have him on a short list but probably on the lower end of it.

He is a tweener but not as you describe. He is a 4/3, he physically is a PF who wants to play like a SF. He is only 1 inch shorter than blake griffin with a 3" better wingspan and 1.5" taller standing reach. Plenty of size for PF.
