unsurprising but interesting that the salary cap will stay relatively flat next year

Quote
Hearing early projections given to GMs and owners in May have NBA salary cap rising to just $58.5 mil next season. This season: $58.044 mil

also, food for thought:

here's the C's cap situation
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AodNvAy3ZYZmdGE3NDBqMElRUXh2REN4Q3pZRG1TU1E&gid=4

if there are no changes this year (unlikely but still) and you add up all the salaries except Jordan Crawford's qualifying offer, you get... $58.5M

and that doesn't even count draft picks and cap holds etc. - so we won't be FA players for a couple of years at a minimum (without significant changes to our roster)

*shakes fist at the Terry/Lee/Bass contracts*

I never approved of the Terry contract. And then I don't understand why we gave him a nice contract to Bass. We love having undersized players and this is what I'll never grasp.

I don't care if he does good individual one on one defense. So what? Had Bass performed as well as he did consistently in the playoffs, we wouldn't be a 7th seed. We probably would've also had home court advantage, or maybe a better match up like the Nets or the Bulls.

Lee I could understand, simply cause of his age, deadly 3 point shooting, and his defense.

That is someone you invest in. Not a fossil of a player who only comes clutch in the playoffs, or a undersized PF who can't rebound well, and only shoots mid range shots.

Obviously they get it wrong with bass potential. I think the guy is at his pick and have the contract of his life. For Lee it was worth the risk I agree. As for Terry, I thought the contract was way too long. Now Danny have to deal with that. Hopefully he will learn from his mistakes.
But I see other teams have much bigger contract problems than us. Some players have 10ml contract and they are end bench players.
So I don't complain much.
