Ainge has dealt with Grunfeld recently, so it isn't far-fetched to think that we could get back in the 2nd-round.

I think lots of teams will be looking to cash out of this draft.

Agreed.  I do think we can find a legit rotation player in this year's 2nd-round.  I'd target Ledo, Goodwin, Canaan, and Rice Jr. (if he slips).

I dont see the need to spend money on a second rounder in a weak draft when we are cash strapped and will probably just cut the player anyway.

"In a package for a veteran."

Not sure if there's that kind of a deal to be had.

If not, it's a no brainer to buy a pick off them. There's virtually no risk, as second-round draftee contracts are non-guaranteed. Could even create more available filler for a trade for a guy who's more ready to help out right now.

if Rice or Ledo drop to the second round, where I think their value is appropriate, I'd take a flyer on them as a low-risk, high-reward type of pick.  an investment in the team's future for the 2014-2015 season and beyond.  picking either in the mid-first round is too high but they'd be a decent pick up in the second.

I wouldn't consider the C's cash-strapped by the way.  sitting on several contracts turned bad due to player ineffectiveness (JET, Lee, Bass) is a different issue entirely but this is one of the last franchises I would worry about financially
