Remember how he was crucified for the Pau Gasol trade?
Not that it was perfect (it took a while to develop) but it's funny in retrospect.
Traded Pau for more pieces, and it worked.
At one time, Ainge traded Walker for more pieces, and it didn't really work.
Wallace saved money by making that deal. We actually would have been better off simply letting Antoine's contract expire.
Weird, huh?
Yeah sure is. He saved money and Marc Gasol developed alongside the team. It was a smart long play.
I don't think Wallace is a very good gm but I don't actually know how much he was calling the shots in Memphis.
On the Pau Gasol deal did he think of Marc that highly or did he just get lucky with a throw in.
On the Rudy Gay move, was he in charge or was it more Hollinger and the analytics department that was behind the move?
The Kings have been too bad for too long, they need to move Cousins and start to bring in players that play hard all the time. If they can get picks for their players then they are a prime candidate to Suck for Wiggins (I know there is a catchier saying than this but I can't think of it now).
Marc was pretty well thought of. I think he's better than anyone expected but he was always huge and with his brothers success he wasn't a fluke prospect.
I think Hollinger was definitely behind moving Gay. They needed to save money, sure, but also it made sense to try to spread the floor with shooters and get some more depth.
And I think moving Cousins is the last thing they should do. Not that he hasn't had issues, but they need to have a team vision going forward based around him, especially in regards to getting a real PG (which previous management truly refused to ever do, it's kind of amazing). If anything they should look to move Tyreke if they can get value.
