LeBron and West were fined for their epic rendition of synchronized flopping that will go down in the annals of flopping history.

@KBergCBS: Also, West, LeBron James and Lance Stephenson have been fined $5,000 each for flopping in Game 4.

A dove was just released to the sky and all is right with the world..LOL.

There goes Lebron's whole stance about not flopping and not knowing how to do it.

As an isolated incident this means nothing. They had to fine them after the way this became an internet sensation.

The key question is, what happens next? Will they call the other 95% of flops any tighter? Will the players give it a rest?

And most important (to me), is this the beginning of the end for the refs' love affair with number 6?

That's what I'm getting at. I think had there not been so many gifs and meme's and posts about it, the league probably would have turned a blind eye. But the officiating was questioned to highly that they had to walk away with something.

And to think the Heat haven't even been warned for a flop the entire season and the first fine goes to Lebron..lol. The pre game interviews should be interesting.

5 grand? thats it? Im thinking they need to change that to min 5 grand of a % of salary, because to a guy like James thats like 50 cents to most of us. Although the fact he got called out on it is well worth it.

Still think West was only on the brink of a fine, he did seem to be tripped up but the upper body movement was selling it a bit too far.

The flop from Lebron was laughable but not as much as fining someone $5,000 (up to $30k for repeat offenders, pfft) who makes $40,000,000+ a year. Flops should be treated more harshly than Tech Fouls, it needs to change almost as much as the officiating. It takes 5 caught flops to even face suspension...what a joke.

I agree about the penalty being pretty irrelevant (particularly in the playoffs).

But the question is, do you want to turn in-game control of identifying flops and assigning penalties like techs, or something even more severe, to the same set of referees we've all been saying are so horrible for the last several days?

I think the best way to handle it is exactly the opposite: let them play and don't call anything. Once Shane Battier realizes that his man is going to get an open layup every time he flops, he will stop doing it.
