Obviously the Heat are better than the Cavs team....but there is something interesting going on...

I still think the Heat make it to the finals....to face the Spurs..

The last time Lebron faced the Spurs.....his teammates were putting up these kind of numbers..

Larry Hughes

11.3 3.9 2.4

Big Z

12.6 9.7 0.8

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CLE/2007.html

His current team...

Wade 14.3 5.6 4.9

Bosh 13.5 6.8 1.6

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/MIA/2013.html#playoffs_per_game::none

Ultimately....LeBron has to either pick up his play like he did last year....or one of their 'stars" has to step up....

Cause either they'll lose to Indiana or get Swept by the Spurs....

I'm voting for losing to Indy.  Indy should be up 3-1 already.  blowing that game will come back to bite them

I would say that this Miami team and this incarnation of Lebron are both much, much better than the team or player that we saw in the 2007 finals against the Spurs.

I am starting to get more optimistic about a Spurs win, though. Wade seems hurt. If Hibbert and West are dominating, so should Duncan and Splitter, even more so. And Indy doesn't have Tony Parker.

On the other side, Lebron has shown repeatedly over the last few years though that he can dominate when it matters though. He's still the best player on the planet by a long shot.

I keep going back to this. Taking game one like that would have been huge. Being up 3 - 1 while winning two road games against the heat would be incredible right now.

Always thought the Heat or Cavs would go as far as Lebron took them. Don't really see a huge difference in th eplay besides the back of the jerseys.

Cavs had some ridoculously good teams with some of the best defense. They also set similar records like the Heat. For instance their ridiculous home record in 2009-2010.

Always thought it was ridiculous when people said lebron needed more help when they jad multiple 60+ win seasons.

As a Celtics fan if we are winning 60+ games there's no way you are convincing me that we aren't good enough to win a championship

Bosh under-performing badly. Wade is hurt. Miami are vulnerable.

Far too much responsibility on LeBron's shoulders right now. His teammates aren't doing their end of things.

How about go Indy?? I'd much prefer to see an Indy/Spurs Final Series, then again I've always rooted for underdogs...

Indiana and San Antonio is what is right with the NBA.  Smaller market teams that build their teams through the draft and then supplement with smart free agent signings and trades. Completely well run and well coached from the top down.  That isn't to say Miami isn't as well, but Miami was created through free agency mostly, which is just different in my mind.

I'd love to see Indiana not only beat Miami, but also beat San Antonio to win the title.  It would be a great story and great for the league on the whole.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
If you look at the East and Miami's biggest rivals, it's a complete choke if Miami don't win this Indiana series 4-2 and the Spurs series 4-1 or 4-2.
The injuries to all the major competitors in the East have given them a free ride.

Rondo
Rose (and the rest of the Bulls)
Granger
Stoudemire

The Heat have been so lucky with so many important players being out and their full roster being almost 100%. I mean is at about 75% but that's their only leaking pipe.

When you rely that much on 3 point shooting you live and die by your form going into the finals.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I want Miami to lose for two reasons, because I hate them and because I hate Ray Allen.  Go Indy!

As good and surprising the Spurs has been, I don't feel confident about them beating Miami at all.  I'll rather have the Griz but oh well..  That's why i'm rooting for the Pacers to beat them

This sounds familiar.

It's funny, people act like Miami is going to rack off all these championships and they just might because Lebron is that good. However, I don't think Wade is ever really going to be healthier, Bosh is who he is, Battier and Ray are only getting older, and Miller has become a non-factor and an amnesty candidate. It really all falls on Lebron.

That being said, people will continue to flock there so I bet these role players will simply be replaced.

With Wade so limited I'm shocked Bosh hasn't stepped up.

I've been saying this for awhile. Lebron is the best player right now, hands down, but if he was to get hurt the Heat would be an average team. The drop off of productivity would be huge. Wade is limited, and I really think it's going to be that way with his style of play and reckless abandonment to his body.

My thoughts exactly.  :-\
