Interesting.

Quote
"We know people want Doc," Ainge said. "We know people want [Rajon Rondo] and KG and Paul Pierce. They are the Celtics. They've all had great success."

Where was that "Why does Doc act like he's doing the Celtics a favor?" thread? This seems like a natural tie-in.

I have a feeling they are going to try and add a big name like Josh Smith to Rondo, PP,KG

Hope they don't trade Green for him though.

or maybe a Gortat who only has 1` year left to expire with PP's contract?

I don't know if this was news last yr, but I found this quite interesting. Especially considering the perks of the job and the fact that his family lives there. I think that says a lot about his commitment to coaching the C's.

That will not stop the offers from coming. Last season, the Orlando Magic offered Rivers the job of team president, which would have entailed everything from schmoozing with corporate sponsors to running the front office. Though he had previously insisted he had "little to no interest" in running a franchise, the financial windfall and unilateral power that would come with such a position (not to mention the proximity to his home base) gave him some brief pause. Ultimately, Rivers rebuffed the Magic and determined he wasn't done coaching.

Its happened before.

It sounds like something is going on, whether its just people wooing Doc behind the scenes or Doc/Danny working through some issues who knows.

Best not to freak out about it.

Wow. That is a tough position to turn down. Shows his commitment to his players and how much he really believed in this team when healthy.

If Doc is coming back theres a very great chance that Paul and KG are also returning. Can we get Smith without giving up Rondo, KG, PP, or Green?

Any sign and trade would require salary going back to Atlanta that Atlanta wants.

So no, I don't think so.

Who knows maybe Danny is trying to get a player to get Pierce Rondo and KG. Josh Smith? Kevin Love? Who knows. Would love it though.

How about Pierce, Bradley, and our 2013 1st for Josh Smith. Pierce can get bought out by the Hawks before June 30th, and they can keep Bradley and the pick. Can that work? Can Smith sign for a sign-and-trade before June 30th so that Pierce can get bought out in time?

Pierce wouldn't be able to sign back with us regardless until the season is finished... so it's giving up PP.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

No. C'mon now. Lol.  To get  josh smith, you would have to include Pierce or Green. Something like this, Jeff Green for Josh smith sign and trade or Green for Josh smith. I don't think other players need to be included because the hawks want to get rid of Josh smith so bad. If other players are included it would be for scrubs and to match salaries.

Nets ask for permission to talk to Doc, rumor Doc may end up with Clippers. Looks like the word is out that Doc is not committed to the Celtics. Teams must think he is available or why else would they ask permission to talk to him.

Why is DA speaking for DOC? Why does he have to? Why aren't DOCs assistants signed?

To commit to anything, you need a plan first. After the upset of this season, DA wisely give a break to everybody. It's not the time to push anybody to commit and risk another upset.
Doc is very committed to his family, he's not a businessman attracted by power and money. He loves being here, period.
Why the need to interpret words or silence like the big news of the day.
Many teams want doc and it's legit they try to contact him each year, just in case. It's their job.
Nothing is happening right now and everything that Danny does we will never know until it happen or maybe few month later (trade offer that didn't work out).
