I imagine Cleveland will wait a year or two before moving Varejao out to make way for Noel.

I don't think it helps Boston's trade chances any. Not this summer.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Bass + Bradley + 1st is way too much value for Varejao at this point. You could make a case when he was healthy, but as is, he's coming off an injury, hasn't played, and is getting older.

1st + filler is the most I'd trade for him at this point.
I like Marcus Smart

I've been long on the Jeff Green for Anderson Varejao straight up train and I think that is more likely now.  Pairing Noel with Thompson and Zeller pretty much sets the Cavs down low and Green is a big upgrade of Alonzo Gee.  Seems to make a lot of sense for Cleveland, especially with Varejao's injury history.

For Boston it makes sense if they are going all in for one more run.  Varejao, if healthy, is more valuable to Boston than Green, and Varejao is expiring after the year (or has a team option for 14/15).  Thus, he comes off the books sooner than Green, which would make more sense in a rebuilding situation.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Yup, well said. Jeff Green fills a need for the Cavs and Varajeo DEFINITELY fills a need for us.

Lee + 1st (this year) works, gives Cavs a defensive back up 2 behind Waiters. No way I'd give up a future 1st unless its heavily protected or Danny has some magical plan to keep C's out of lottery.

sure it shores up the big guy need. but it also creates a MASSIVE scoring problem. the c's had lots of trouble scoring this year. that's why they lost to the knicks.

I think Varejao is valuable to the Cavs. He could mentor their young bigs and prepare the team for future bigger challenges. I dont think we have somebody they like to replace him.

I don't mind taking a chance on a injury-prone 24 year old guard with star potential.

I have no interest in taking a chance on an injury-prone 32 year old center who at best, is likely a good role player.

However, I think now is the time for the Cavs to move him. Statistically, he's coming off a monster season. If you can convince a team that he's healthy going forward, you can absolutely sell high.

Jeff Green for his career is at 13.6 ppg.  If you are relying on him to be a scorer you are going to be let down big time.

And let's be realistic, as much I would move Rondo, having him would help the offense a lot.  The team is just better at that end with its floor general setting everyone up.

Sideshow Bob for Iron Man? No way, that's bad karma.

Varejao is on his decline because of so many injuries, while Jeff will only get better next year.

I really don't want Varajao. He'll pull a Bynum and we'll get scammed.
