Greg Oden is still on the Celtics’ radar, but the oft-injured free agent center doesn’t seem to be a high priority. There have been good reports lately on Oden, who met with the C’s three months ago.

“We’ll look into Greg still,” Ainge said of the 2007 No. 1 overall pick who hasn’t played since making 21 appearances in the 2009-10 season. “He wasn’t ready to play when we saw him last. He wasn’t ready to work out — I mean, not like a real workout. We’ll probably check into that some time this summer.”

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
I don't mind dropping more than the vet minimum for Greg Oden.. Who knows? A healthy Greg Oden is a superstar in my opinion... That's a risk you take, especially with most draft picks nowadays not proving to be franchise players.

It's based on your perspective, quite simply

Well he could be a superstar. Hasnt shown or hasn't shown enough imo

We know when bynum and dwight are healthu they are superstars. Oden was looking good but hasn't played in forever and really only showed some flashes

But that's the thing the only difference between him and some draft picks is his durability.

If Greg Oden can stay healthy for one full season, then that'll be enough to catapult us into favorable positions. And at worst or best case we can package him if he has a longer contract, for a better more durable/consistent big men.

7.3 RPG, 9.6 PPG, and 1.7 BPG aren't bad numbers considering he was only playing for under 30 minutes.

This is a risk if I was DA I'd be willing to take. That way if he isn't healthy, at least it was worth it. If he is healthy it only makes DA looks like a genius.

Plus unlike both Dwight and Bynum, Oden isn't an absolute head case who seems to believe he is god and the entire world should bow down and kiss his shoes.

I would take a chance on Oden LONG before I'd even dream of going for Dwight or Bynum.

Just dont rush anything.  If you get Odom sit him for an entire season if you need to for him to get back to 150% health.  Don't risk another premature injury - not only for the teams sake, but for his too.  One more injury could be the end of his career for ever.

I think we need to play our BUCKEYE card here. Send Sully on a secret mission: GREG ODEN. The 2 work out together in Columbus a few days, get some grub, relive ohio state days, and make the 2 "buddy buddy" Sully reports back to Danny and if Sully thinks Oden is healthy we swoop in and get him! Sully and Oden down low would be more than ahhhhhmazing!!

DISCLAIMER: to be more than ahhhhhmazing both players would need to be healthy.
