Here is a realistic idea to keep the band together, stay below the tax, and be a contender for next year and the years to come:

1) - Draft Ricky Ledo
2) - Trade for Gortat

1) Ricky Ledo:

Didn't play one min of college basketball but was a top high school recruit who opened some eyes against other SG at the draft combine... Deadly scorer with great size who shoots it like Durant and handle it like Joe Johnson... Potential ALL STAR!! Latest news about him:

Providence's Ricky Ledo has pulled out of the pre-NBA Draft group workout in New Jersey this week, his agent, Seth Cohen, tells Y! Sports.
— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) May 19, 2013

A few videos for Ledo:
http://www.nbadraft.net/players/ricardo-ledo

2) Trade for Gortat:

Here hoping our former assistant GM can provide us an assist here... Gortat has been rumour to have been through some issue in Phoenix and be eager to go to a playoff team.
Ideally we should try to get Gortat (7 M) for Courtney Lee (5 M), Crawford (1 M) and Wilcox (1 M) plus a future 2nd round pick.

Gortat mix:

An idea of what we could look like next year (if Barbosa can return.. ??):

Rondo - Ricky Ledo - Green - Sully - KG

Bradley - Twill - Pierce - Bass - Gortat

Barbosa - Terry - ???? - Randolph - Melo

If Barbosa can come back that would be terrific!! Just go after a serviceable 3 and D type of SF for the vet min or in the Dleague (Or in China! lol) and that team can contend if healthy!

We stay below the luxury tax and get a team that as a lot of good young player who will need one or two super star after Pierce and KG retire to keep contending for the NBA Title!
The core after KG and Pierce retire:

Rondo (27), Brandley (22), Ricky Ledo (20), TWill (25), Green (26), Sully (20), Bass (28), Gortat (29) and Melo (22).

Not too shabby...

I like the idea but I think we're going to have to give more than Lee and Crawford (Wilcox is FA I believe) to get Gortat.

It may have to involve our 16th pick and either AB or Sully.

If we could trade Lee and Crawford for Gortat, I'd do it in a millisecond

But we can't. Phoenix won't allow us to do so.

I would switch up the idea a bit.

I would propose to Phoenix AB and Fab and the 16th for Gortat and 2nd. AB's age has tremendous value and Fab, while a project, is a big man they can develop, along with the 16th.

We keep Lee. He's no All-NBA Defense but he's good enough to keep our defensive identity. We draft the BPA in the second round (57th overall I think).

Rondo
Lee / T-Will
Pierce / Green
KG / Sully
Gortat / Bass

If that team stays healthy, that can contend.

I dont think the Suns are going anywhere anytime soon...
They brought Ryan McDonough as GM for his drafting skills.
It seems to me that they are looking to rebuilt through the drafts. So such a team will value a 1st rounder higher than other teams that need to win now.
Plus Gortat was having some issues there as well
Plus he's soon going to be turning 30 soon and wants to be contending in playoff teams now before it's too late for him.
Plus the Suns were reportedly interested in Courtney Lee when we were trying to get him last year...
We could add crawford (a scorer off the bench which they need) plus Melo or Wilcox (who can play the Gortat role at a lesser extend so they get a higher lottery chance next year...) and in addition we could add a protected first rounder in the future (2015 or something..).
I do think Ryan McDonough can look at this and justify suh trade with the idea of rebuilding in the next 2 to 3 years for the suns...

I'll be stunned if Ricardo Ledo is ready for a NBA rotation on a contending team his first couple of years in the league. He's got the right height, length, handle and shooting stroke, but he's weak as a kitten. Good project pick, and someone who has top of the league shooting ability, but not someone you can plug into your team as a rookie.

Ledo's gone from not being on any draft boards to mid-second round on DX. If he's pulling out of workouts, he must have a promise from a team drafting late in the first round. The rumor in Providence is that he's had a first round promise in his back pocket, and that's why he declared for the draft despite never playing a second of college ball.

LOL I wish.

Then we would still have the MLE or the mini one. We would probably use it on a backup PG or be allowed (w/ Gortat) to take a flyer on Oden. I want Doc to give TWill a real shot at backup PG but if we aren't keeping him we need to find someone serviceable ASAP!

If they keep it together, we have to get a big (NO ONE IS MIAMI DOC, ONLY MIAMI CAN GET AWAY WITH ALL SMALL BALL)! I don't know if I agree that we aren't 1 player away from contending as Danny said b/c I thought we were one RR away from making noise this season in the playoffs. So let's add a MLE type big (or get Gortat), healthy RR and Sully, an offensive coach and we'll be ready! Oh, I almost forgot, another season to build the chemistry up! LET'S DO IT ONE MORE TIME DANNY!

I don't see who it's hurting by putting the same team out there again. I'd rather go on being fooled that we have a chance than know for sure we have no chance b/c we aren't in the playoffs for 10 years! Yes, it will add on to the rebuild time but if we know we will have to go full rebuild regardless, what's another seasons wait? So it's about a 10yr rebuilding process, what's making it 11-12 yrs going to do?

RUN IT BACK DANNY!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

And he just went from 46 to 33 on the latest Draftexpress update post NBA Combine...
That team who gave him the promise is the smartest team of the bunch!
This kid is an NBA All Star in the near future!
He will get the needed nba experience and bulk up, it's a given! But that shooting stroke and ball handling with his size, that is a premium!!
I will take him at 16 without hesitation!
There are a lot of good players in this draft, but not a lot of All Star Caliber players if any!
I do think if there are all stars in this draft Ledo will be one of them...
Unfortunately, words out of the combine was that Utah liked him and could take him as high as 14...

Ainge is a talent maven, and Ledo has to be on his radar. However, Ainge could have had a Ledo type two drafts ago in Marshon Brooks, who actually had a body of work in college, and chose to go in a different direction. I'd love to see someone with Ledo's talent on Boston, but it would be a bad situation for him to be drafted by his home team. Ledo needs to get as far from Providence as possible if he's going to have an NBA career. Some place quiet like Utah would be ideal.

Ledo's a perfect example of a kid with talent who's had the wrong people in his ear about how he can make the jump to the NBA after one year (his father in particular from what I've seen in a few interviews)

someone loaded might take him at the end of the first but it would have to be someone that can gamble on him taking 3-4 years to come into his own (if ever). I could see Miami doing it as an eventual backup to Wade after the current crew is washed up.

would also give them a pick

Could Beasley get back to his former level of play in the right situation...?
