Some analysts think he's a top-5 PG in the league.  :o I guess he can be.

I am NOT picking on anyone, but to appreciate what Rondo does ....you have to play at league level...some league.......sorry but it is true...if you don't understand his value.....it is probably because you never played, and needed someone to do what he does....and you then cannot see his sacrifice, and how he perfected the pg position.....but as such a great pg...he needs guys who can do more than just attempt their fav shots.......he needs guys who MOVE......the CELTS do not move well.....only Bradley and green now move....Wilcox moved on O for him......he grows your motivation and your desire to do more.....he makes you a better player if you move, look and get free...even better if you look one play ahead, as YOU will see the next open guy before you get the ball too...!

Conley is a better defender, a better finisher and shooter. Rondo a better passer and rebounder. I would take Conley.

Rondo is the better player, but Conley has more idealistic prototypical pg skills.

You think so?  I'd say that Rondo's passing ability is more of a prototypical PG skill than Conley's shooting.

I think I'd still take Rondo, but its probably closer for me than most people.

If I could trade Rondo for a legit low post presence and scorer and knew I could get Conley to replace Rondo, I wouldnt be upset.

Rondo; he's proven to be absolutely prolific at times. Especially during the playoffs. When Rondo's on, it's something special.

Conley has been super, super solid IMO. Just has never shown that level Rondo can kick it in to.

If it is so, I think it would be a hairs better.

I think Rondo has superb ball-hawking skills, but when you are accountable for such a high percentage of your teams offense, you simply cannot apply such pressure and completely control the offense without getting incredibly gassed.

I think in big moments, or matched up against better players, his defense improves markedly and one doesn't see the "matador defense" that Rondo is sometimes prone to playing. I think with more offensive creators (like a young Pierce, for example) Rondo's defense will more consistent and he will again be seen as one of the top defensive points in the league.

Maybe.

Conley isn't a top 5 pg but he might have cracked the top 10.

Cp3
Rose
Rondo
Irving
Westbrook
Parker
Williams

Then these guys

Curry
Conley
Rubio
Lawson

Curry is on his way for sure if he can stay healthy. Conley just doesn't quite wow yet like the guys in the first list.

Agreed, but now more than ever it's imperative that all the wing players on a playoff team can somewhat reliably hit from deep, and I think Mike C represents a better fit for more teams trying to compete right now than Rondo does.

Rondo's lack of shooting ability is what makes him less idealistic. IMO, the prototypical point guard should be the ultimate triple threat(Driving, Passing, and shooting). Offensively, Conley's game is more balanced than Rondo's.  Basically Conley's game would work on a wider range of teams than Rondo's.

Rondo was one of the top performers in the league in last year's playoffs. I'd say that's a much better fit for teams trying to compete right now than many people here seem to realize.
