Obviously this wouldn't happen, and if it did it'd be in a long time from now, but would you still be a fan?

Note:
-The Celtics completely reboot their roster and fill it up with new people
-The management and coaching completely changes too

This is such an outlandish idea that I pause to legitimize it with a comment.

It would never ever happen, period!

I would still be a fan because it would only happen if Boston got nuked and they were relocating the franchise to New Boston on Mars.

I'm not going to comment regarding this hypothetical. I'm waiting for the thread about the hypothetical situation of constantly making threads with a hypothetical situation being asked in the thread name.

hypothetically if my wife revealed she was a lesbian Soviet spy and stole my kid and fled to the USSR and kicked me in the groin on the way out and drained our bank account I'd probably stop loving her

The question is more interesting than it looks like.
I understood it as, what is your attachment as a fan.

To me, I'm attached to the spirit. Being a Celtic or a Boston player has its own way of competing that is unique. DA, Doc PP and KG manage to keep that spirit the last 6 years or so.

My answer is I will follow and continue to be a fan of that wherever the spirit goes. If it stays in Boston fine, if it goes away in another city I'm also fine, regarding of the win/lose production. Because it is only this mentality of boston celtics that makes me watch NBA.

I dunno. I'd like to think fandom is at least slightly related to the city, as I often root for "Boston". I was also more upset by the Boston bombing than by an comparable disasters - which is relevant because I don't live in Boston, but still cared, so it's obviously got something to do with the city.

Probably it's history, not just the club, but the city.

If the Celtics moved... Maybe I'd become a Grizzlies fan.

But surely never a Lakers fan ;)
