Horford for Rondo if Dwight Howard wants to play at home

Sounds good in theory, until you realize the fact that the C's end up contributing (not in a good way) to the likely prohibitive EC favorites for the next 5 seasons.

I have zero interest in that.  The C's are going to likely rue the day they trade Rondo, if they do.

Huh??? I think the Celts would benefit alot more with having an actual center which we haven't had since the Perk trade than Atlanta having a point guard who's prone to turnovers. It's alot tougher to find a quality center than it is to find a point guard.

Howard + Josh Smith + Rondo? Game over... You got one of the best defensive teams in the EC... Not to mention the Hawks have decent cap space to sign some more threats..

Besides no team will ever trade a good Center for a good point guard..

The only way I do Horford for Rondo is if we bring in another point guard like Bledsoe to run the show. I think talent wise it would be a good deal for Boston but these recent playoffs have shown us what life without a point guard is like.

The problem with any trade of Rondo is that what do you value more consistency or up and down with flashes of greatness?

Under no circumstance has horford ever shown that he can truly lead or elevate his game/team in the playoffs. He puts up his numbers pretty consistently though but never really overwhelms.

Rondo may be inconsistent in regular season but during playoffs he is consistently pretty spectacular. With Horford and just feels like you are getting his standard game which is good but not really great. Its similar to Chris Bosh or something.

O. The surfzce the trade looks good but thinking about those guys competing in the playoffs just doesn't do it for me

This was my initial reaction also.  We might be able to do Rondo + Lee or Rondo + Terry or something but Rondo + 2nd, I don't see it.

I do like the idea in its general sense and believe that it has promise for both teams.

In terms of creating a monster team in Atl, Rondo, Smith, and Howard are all good but flawed (health and otherwise).  I don't think this team beats Miami for example and I can see many scenarios where this team has "issues" and underachieves.

If Rondo + (Something Reasonable) can get us Horford and Teague, I say do it.

I am pretty high on the anti - trade rondo draft board. But this is something I would consider, if at all possible which I just dont see. But you just dont trade a legit center for a guard.

Somewhat bad example but look at the Warriors trading Ellis for Bogut. Bogut, when healthy, has made the Warriors look like legit boarderline contenders. Ellis has kept the Bucks exactly where they have been for quite a few years. If that trade never happens, the Warriors are a borderline playoff team and the Bucks probably could have been fighting for a top 6 seed, maybe even top 4 seed, in the weak East.

I think this summer is the summer that the always rumored Josh Smith for Pau Gasol trade goes down. And I think with real center support, we will see how good Horford really is.

People consider him the second banana because Josh Smith has better dunks.  Horford is better then him.  I'd make this trade but under the circumstances others said, getting another PG via another trade or making ATL include Jeff Teague.
